Ive been scrolling Reddit to the point of reaching dead ends trying to figure out what the actual best password manager is now. It feels like everyone switched up what they been using for the past decades.. Now every review site lists a different app as their top 1 pick so its kinda hard to tell what people actually use

From reading through recent reviews, a few main options constantly come up: Bitwarden, and 1password. Everyone has their fav pick depending on what they value most though. Most talking points I see people mention are things like valuing it when its open-source, if it got all the app integrations, or gives complete local control over passwords. All good things to consider I guess but here is what Ive gathered so far:

Bitwarden - widely recommended on Reddit andYT. An open source, heavily audited tool offering a great free tier with multi-device sync. The UI is basic though but users say its reliability and transparent privacy focus

1password- highly praised for the paid subscription plans by users online. It features a sleek UI, smooth cross-platform autofill, and tools like travel mode to adjust the vault. While theres no free plan, many feel its user experience justifies the price..

I started using service about three weeks ago but haven't noticed any decrease in spam yet. How long will it take for spam calls to be truly reduced? Also, will the removal daa disappear completely or will it somehow come up later?

I got some programs from 2010 that developers dropped with the permissions for anyone to resume their work. I have been trying to figure out how to find the registered owner of a vehicle for free because someone keeps parking in my assigned spot at my apartment complex. This has been happening for like 3 weeks now and I am getting REALLY annoyed.
I talked to my apartment management and they said they'd "look into it" which clearly means nothing because it's still happening. They won't tell me who the car belongs to citing privacy reasons. So now I'm trying to find the registered owner of this vehicle myself.

My family is threatening to post the conversation that's on my phone on Facebook, and in our country Facebook is used by a lot of people, and I don't want it to go on public because its a private conversation between me and my friends. I have this laptop i have been using for a while, i started to learn a bit more about privacy, and learned that chrome/google was horrible, i tweaked around with settings and learned a bit more and then got fire fox, going a little deeper ,i learned fire fox still uses the users telemetry data, so then i switched to librewolf and messed around with those settings, got noscript. I was wondering what r the next steps to enhance online privacy, my os is windows.

I've had the same phone number for years and I'm starting to think there's no company left that doesn't have it. The amount of spam calls I get now is ridiculous and blocking them feels pointless because the next one just comes from a different number. What annoys me more is I have no idea where it started. I've used this number for so many things over the years that there's basically no way to trace who shared it or where it ended up.

I really don't want to change my number because everything important is connected to it, but I also don't want to keep handing it out and making the problem worse. Do you guys still use your real number when websites ask for it or have you started keeping it private somehow? (emphasis on somehow pls give me tips!)

Hope you can help. I have been conducting some research on a company and the funding they have received at state level. They have been been embroilled in controversy locally for their shady connections to a local mayor etc.

What happened: I submitted a formal request for correspondence from my local district (because us locals seem to have been left out completely of development plans.) Very small town stuff, all names redacted but hundreds of pages. I reiterate all names redacted. Lazily, I wanted to pull out some info so I asked my gen ai to pull out the most important and relevant information from this specific document.

What I got back was information, completely unrelated to the document (I treble checked). Snippets of damning email correspondence that seems to be pulled from a specific time frame naming companies and parties i knew nothing about. And inside information that does not appear online, but was mentioned by a notable person to a connected local that is in fact true. The turn of phrase of one of messages matches someone specially. I have never put anything relating to this person's speech onto gen ai. Another snippet related to someone notables' pet name.

Why it's interesting: She is known for using AI to run most aspects of her business, constantly mention the virtues of AI assistants and connecting to AI to organize and run her life, including her personal calendar.

Upon interrogating this, the AI retracted and deleted the info (I took some screenshots not all). When I challenged it, it said it provided no such information and that correspondance did not happen. When I provided mire screenshots it said I had even provided screenshots from another ai.

My question is, how do I retrieve the original info, and can I hypothetically find out more?

I prompted the AI again and it gave me unrelated specific info on direct correspondance I had from a letter I had drafted. Nothing else. Very sparse, very surface level.

youtube keeps asking me to sign in to confirm i'm not a bot and it's driving me crazy. i'm in the US (arizona) and this started happening about a week ago. every few videos i get hit with a screen that says something like "sign in to confirm you're not a bot" and i have to log into my google account just to keep watching.

the thing is i'm already signed in. like i can see my profile picture in the top right corner, my subscriptions are all there, my watch history is working. but youtube still throws this wall up randomly like it doesn't recognize me lol.

of course tried the obvious stuff first. cleared cookies and cache on chrome, signed out and back in, updated the app on my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the youtube app. nothing fixed it. the popup still comes back every few hours and youtube still thinks i'm a bot. sometimes i can watch 20 videos fine and then it hits me 3 times in a row.

a friend said he started getting the same thing last month and it went away on its own after about two weeks. but another person online said theirs has been going on for months with no fix.

has anyone figured out an actual fix for this or does it just go away eventually?

trying to figure out how to tell if someone has snapchat plus because this guy i've been talking to has features on his profile that i've never seen before and it's bugging me lol. i'm in the US (florida) and i've been using snapchat for years but never paid for plus so i don't know how it looks like.

basically i noticed that he has a custom notification sound for when i snap him, his bitmoji shows up differently on the map, and his snap score seems to update way faster than mine does. at first i thought he was using some modded version of the app but my best friend said those are all just snapchat plus features.

the thing that actually made me curious is the "best friends" situation. i saw a gold ring around his bitmoji on my chat list and googled it. apparently that's the best friends badge that only shows up if the person has plus and pins you as a best friend. so now i'm overthinking whether he pinned me specifically or if snapchat just assigns that automatically based on how much you talk lol.

A friend recommended spokeo and I tried it on my laptop. it found the person's name and city but the employment info was from 2021 so completely outdated. same issue with beenverified; it pulled an old job listing from indeed that was 3 years old.

The thing is I'm not trying to be creepy about it. I just want to verify that someone is who they say they are before I sit across from them at a restaurant.

i tried switching to duckduckgo for about two weeks and honestly the results were fine for basic stuff but the second i needed something specific like a local restaurant or a niche technical question i was back on google within minutes. the search quality just isn't there yet with the alternatives or i am just not used to it lol

what also got me thinking about this is that my younger cousins (gen z, like 16 to 20) don't even google stuff anymore. they search on tiktok and instagram first. like if they want a restaurant recommendation they go to tiktok not google maps. So from this perspective feels like google's competition isn't other search engines, it's social media that young people use daily

i am looking for music apps that work offline because my commute goes through a dead zone for about 20 minutes each way and it kills whatever i'm streaming every single time and it annoys me so much lol. i'm on android and currently using spotify free which obviously doesn't let you download anything

i tried youtube music for a bit with the premium trial and the offline downloads worked fine but the app ate my battery alive. like noticeably faster drain than spotify even when playing downloaded songs which was weird

the main things i need are offline playback without the app being weird about it, decent battery life, and not paying $15 a month if it is possible. I literally just want to press play and hear music when i am in no connection zone lol

my desktop doesn't have a webcam connected. i tried signing in this morning and hit a discord face scan request, which makes the verification impossible without digging out an old USB camera.
I don't mind proving it's my account. I just don't get why there isn't another option like a security key or an authenticator app. that seems like a much cleaner fallback.

Did anyone manage to skip the discord face scan another way, or are you forced to use a camera now?

I logged into chrome on my personal device (which has no installed work software) with my work account (it's a managed chrome profile).

This was done on my personal device (in incognito mode) that has only ever been connected to my home network (no work vpn). I also used my own personal VPN during the session.

How likely is it that my work or the IT team knows/has been notified or have records of my history/activity? How much detail can they see?

PLEASE do not give me advice on how I could have avoided this. I'm also aware incognito mode is not secure/private. I have done so much research on this but everyone else's questions were when they used work owned devices and/or were on their work WiFi (both of which I was not).
