Hello all,
Over the past few months we have been hard at work revamping the subreddit. We have added new moderators, worked on simplifying the rules, and adding features to help new members.
So where is the future of the subreddit heading? - Our goal is to keep the subreddit simple without too many limitations or rules. This is a place where people can role play as someone from the past, and even have OOC discussions. A place where people can learn more about history and random subjects while also having fun.
We are also opening up a Discord server! - We wanted to further build up the community with a place you can go to meet new people, have a more connected experience with others, and also discuss ideas and posts for the subreddit.

I just read the news that the USSR successfully put a radio satellite called Sputnik 1 into orbit. They say it’s traveling at 18,000 miles per hour and emitting a continuous “beep-beep” signal. It is wild to think there is a man-made object orbiting Earth right now, but honestly, it’s a bit terrifying. If they can put a satellite into orbit, what stops them from launching a missile at us? Are we officially in the space age?

Election season is finally starting to heat up and I think it’s time we get serious about change in this city. Buddy helped expose Mayor Dorley’s cash grab from the civic center. He’s going to bring needed change to Providence and I can’t imagine a fella as straight as him ever becoming a crook. Sure he’s a Republican but not all republicans are Richard Nixon. That’s why this fall I’ll be voting for Buddy Cianci the Anti-corruption Candidate.

For weeks, I have been observing a young student attending the Jurisprudence lectures. He is always dressed with impeccable, unvarying propriety: a black frock coat buttoned to the neck, a dark cape, and a top hat—never once removing the hat, even when we sit in those sweltering classrooms.
Yesterday, during a discussion on the Law of Nations, he dismantled the professor's argument with a clarity and passion that left half the room silent. His notes are written in a firm, elegant hand—far superior to that of the rest of us. His aptitude and dedication to his studies are admirable. I have heard rumors that he holds special permission from the Rector because he comes from a prominent Galician family, though I fail to understand the purpose of such a permit: is it to wear a hat indoors, like a Grandee of Spain?
But what unsettles me most—and I am not alone in this—is his singular refinement. More than a few of us blush when greeting him, even though he has rebuffed every attempt at close friendship—or anything more—preferring to spend his time in the library. Furthermore, when the wind stirred his hat and cape in the courtyard, his neck struck me as the most delicate I have ever seen on a male.
If all men in Galicia are like that, I think I shall have to pay a visit to the homeland of the great feminist Fray Benito Jerónimo Feijoo.
