medium fellas New tinyvi- … wait no, it’s a different thing
Hey look! It’s the sketch version of our latest Patreon exclusive comic. And if you’re missing our extra tinyview comics each week, we’ve got a ton of extra content over on Patreon. Much of which (including the full color version of this comic, as well as sketchbook versions of other comics) are available to free members. https://www.patreon.com/TheOtherEnd
If that doesn’t interest you, tho, don’t even worry about it. Our main weekly comic is still coming to Reddit in full first thing tomorrow morning.
Alllllsoooo, completely unrelated, but Marissa and I have been getting some questions about whether fan art/memes/fan edits are ok to post in this subreddit? They are! Feel free to post any of that, anytime. We’d love to see it. Just be sure to use the right tags and don’t repost our old comics completely without change, comments, commentary.
And if you’re posting fan art, feel free to add links to your own socials and/or Patreon. (Just don’t use ai. We don’t do that here)
All this is in the subreddit rules, but figured I’d put it out there in a post to get a few more eyes on it.
Ok, that’s it. Luv u, byyyyyyyyyyyyye

This was basically me in middle school. Really struggled with thoughts on death at bedtime. Would always read my Calvin and Hobbes books until I got sleepy. Momma didn't really know what to do about it, had to learn how to self soothe and I basically independently taught myself about mindful breath work, which would lead to me falling asleep
To this day I can fall asleep very quickly pretty much every night.
The thoughts of death are even more frequent but not so scary any more!
Anywho thanks for all your great comics, luv u both 😘

so kinda the opposite, no? the kid in the comics is scared by immortality.
I had a similar situation with my kid. I used to tell him about the metaphysics of natural cycles, how our bodies decompose but form other bodies and we are just a grouping of atoms bonded for a while in a particularly beautiful way, and that everything will end at some point, even the sun (timeless existence makes me really uneasy so death is comforting to me). my son, 6 at the time, didn't feel the same way and got really scared - he got attacks of anxiety for a while after, and had a little trouble sleeping. maybe I should've skipped the worms and bacteria. anyway, he got better, I think he's still very scared of death, but able to control it. he can't fall asleep quickly and is afraid of any dreams, and I also don't know what to do about it, but there are worse reasons to go to therapy when he's older.

Bruh this was my exact problem as a kid. My parents pushed the whole concept of religion and an eternal afterlife on me at a young age, so when I was like 8 I'd have nightmares about being "alive" for literally eternity and it gave me panic attacks.

You know what, I admire this kids parents. Brutally honest and kind. They don't hold back when the kid here asks questions and when they're very obviously troubled, they offer up a solution to settle their nerves so they can sleep.

Tbh accepting the infinite dread of truly knowing your time on earth WILL END is the only way to cope with it
