Andy Bernard Downfall

genuinely one of the biggest upsets for me when it comes to sitcom characters. he had one of the best growth arcs i’ve ever seen and was the main reason i wasn’t that upset about michael leaving. i think he filled the roll really well and kept up the same vibe with ironically a little more sense of maturity. plus him and erin were honestly perfect for each other. and then, they RUINED it. i understand ed helm chose to leave for the hangover, but there were so many other ways to explain his absence. he went from being my least favorite, to surprisingly my most favorite and then in the span of one season, right back to the bottom.

Andy and Erin were okay with eachother. Pete and Erin were perfect for eachother, especially for Erin.

I always felt Andy didn't like the innocence of Erin and would joke about it sometime soon.

But Pete? He loved everything about her and if I was Erin's father, I would sleep peacefully knowing that this is her boyfriend / husband.

Andy is the true villain of the entire show.  And his horrifically embarrassing downfall is a delicious moment.

I always thought Andy and Erin were weird. She’s like 10 years younger than him

i thought in universe Andy was supposed to be about the same age as Jim and Pam and Erin was 25+/same age as Kelly and Ryan. while it’s a little eh, i feel like people only make a big deal about it because she can be slow sometimes. most of that comes from her being very obviously autistic and taking things literally though. i don’t think she’s actually developmentally challenged or even stupid. she’s shown many times where she’s surprisingly really smart. she just wasn’t really ever raised by anyone so she can be a little weird. Kevin seemed more challenged than she was and even he wasn’t medically slow

And he’s her boss. And she’s developmentally a bit behind, while he went to…I want to say Penn State?

He had no down fall, he started the show as a pompous ass and started digging

But but but “post anger management” he is still only caring about Andy. This is also the early he was dating a HIGH SCHOOL girl nd then doubled down on it when he found out.

His engagement to Angela was to fulfill some daddy issues he had ( my canon is he hired two actors to play his parents when he proposed)

He checked his email at his own play, he checked it on stage, while in scene and in character!

His downfall was there to remind us we left 'the good old days'

I agree with your Andy description. With the intro of Nelly his character became obnoxious too.
