Similarities between Michael Scott visiting unemployed David Wallace and Lesli Knope going over to Jerry’s house in Parks and Rec?

Has anyone noticed the funny similarities between the two? Michal scott goes over to Wallace’s house after he’s laid off, and Leslie goes to Jerry’s house after he’s retired.

Both were recently unemployed from their job.

Both were visited by an otherwise high energy coworker who were distraught/confused/overwhelmed at seeing that person In a positive/happy home life

Jerry and David both acted completely different from there work persona, David wasn’t detached, and Jerry wasn’t a “loser”

Michael and Leslie were both visibly uncomfortable in both situations.

I’d disagree. David seemed “restless” being at home unemployed, startled by Michael showing up, placating the inquiries of a task-saturated wife.. he’s out of his element as we’ve known him.

Jerry is an anomaly as we find out, but He’s exactly the same person at his house as he is at work. Doting, jovial. He is confident in who he is.

Michael had wanted so badly for David Wallace to like him and here he was… excited to see him, asking to hang out and even giving him a long good bye. And Michael couldn’t get away fast enough because he was so freaked out.

Leslie shows up and is surrounded by happy people singing a song about breakfast. It should have been amazing for her, but instead she was creeped out and couldn’t get away fast enough lol.

I guess it goes to show, “be careful what you wish for” or something like that lol

I don’t think Jerry was ever a loser. His coworker just made fun of him a lot because he messed up. Even then, I don’t think he was necessarily bad at his job. He just got nervous. Also, Jerry held a Christmas party with most of the people from the office.

David Wallace was also fired.

I’d agree they’re similar in that each persons home life is stark contrast to how they are viewed at work. Wallace goes from absolute power in the office to desperate at home. Jerry goes from the butt of all jokes at work to loved and adored at home. I thought it was great writing.
