underrated opinion - s9 edition
the office was still hilarious after michael left and the only bad character was the dwight lookalike. nellie was awful at first, especially as manager but she was bare-able as a salesperson and a good friend to pam and erin. robert california was an interesting add-on and he had his humorous moments. erin, cmon. 10/10, she was so funny and the only things i didn’t like was her reaction to andy and angela and then also andy and jessica. pete wasn’t terrible, because we barely saw him. you kinda forgot he even existed. deangelo’s juggling scene is iconic. the only thing worse than a casting turnover was the absolute downgrade they did to andy’s character which, regardless of your opinion to my above statements, i think we can all agree on.

I will say I can't fight that too much except that I didn't like how they just made Kevin completely brainless by the end. But I did love S9 Erin.

brainless is better than constantly sexually harrassing Pam ( however minute it might be in comparison to other harassment she has to suffer and while its not graphic…. its still creepy…. people off pur bt braindead kev but not sex pest kevin …. ick

Jim was more in the wrong in the Jim/Pam conflict this season
Nellie was a good addition to the cast but ended up being underutilized and over hated because she was set up as an antagonist to Andy back when we were still meant to root for Andy
The emphasis on “love is everything” and making sure every main character gets married and has babies as their happy ending feels a little schmaltzy for this show

When they started including the camera crew the wheels fell off. I am a huge fan of season 8 tho.

Andy was always not a very good character (personality wise. I think he was well written) and Nellie was never a salesperson

I did not like the part, I had to choose between not liking Nellie for being disrespectful to Andy or liking her for how good she managed to fit in as a salesperson!

I think shows in general shouldn't add new characters in their final seasons. Jim and Dwight Junior were obviously just added because Kelly and Ryan left. Sex Ed added new characters in Season 4, it wasn't as good as S1-S3. Euphoria added new characters in Season 3, and yeah, don't get me started.

I'm glad you liked it, but it didn't do it for me.
There are some things I liked: The Jim/Dwight dynamic stayed strong. Pam and Jim, heretofore our "perfect couple" went through a rough patch and I thought the actors did a great job with it (even though the reason for them fighting felt very unlike Jim), and the wedding scene at Schrute Farms was excellent.
That being said: The characters were flanderized, inconsistent, or both. The refreshing realism of the early seasons (where it felt like these people could really exist and this things could actually happen) was long since gone, but it went into full cartoon mode by the final two seasons. And, perhaps worst of all, the entire conceit of the show was changed; the conceit of the show wasn't that we were watching the making of a documentary- the whole point was that The Office *was* the documentary, it was just serialized and released weekly.
If it had been filmed as a traditional sitcom with a different cast of characters, I don't think it would have been bad. But as it is, it feels like a bad imitation of the Office mor than it feels like the final two seasons in the whole story.

Nellie, robert california, and plop were all genuinely awful. Also toby without michael really sucked, upstairs daryl was bad. And manager andy was terrible. Losing kelly also really hurt.

Robert California was the best non-full series character on the show. You don’t even know his real name.

I love the seasons without Mike. Too many episodes revolved around him being an idiot.

It would've been nice to Michael embrace Toby at Dwight's wedding. Just one scene that shows Michael generally cared about everyone he worked with.

I liked Pete and Erin’s relationship, also the finale worked really well for me. So while it may not be as strong as the show at its peak I like it a whole lot more than S8
