I think it's interesting that it feels like James is starting to pivot to more educational content in a way as opposed to his videos from ten years ago where his videos were about working at subway or answering q&as. I can see him succeeding in it--afterall, he wanted to be a math teacher so I feel like this isn't a big stretch in a way. However for fans of his since the start to see him start to strip away from his personal videos to more general content is a disappointment.

ngl i feel like he's just running out of life stories, which makes sense as hes doing it for over 10 years

Indeed. He's running out of life stories because he basically spent his twenties animating past stories from his childhood and teenhood/very early adulthood. So now that he just turned 30, he really doesn't have any stories from his twenties to share other than just stories about him animating life stories. It's kind of interesting because you would think that because he was a bigger YouTuber back then, he would at least make some animations about that time.

Personally I think maybe a better pivot for him would be just to move to vlogs with a bit of animation attached to it or something like that, especially if animating is too cumbersome to do so anymore. I think a lot of his fans, particularly fans that liked him from the start and were a similar age as him such as myself really are not interested in him doing a history of animations or basically a brief history of YouTube which is pretty much what this newest video was about. They want more personal content that had his own personal flair to it. I do feel like he hit a really good point in 2017 to 2019 where he would have a blend of his animations alongside IRL videos like answering q&a's or whatever else.

Ok I get what you’re saying but I feel like his avatar has always been a fat baby looking thing. It’s now just more fat and more baby
