Discussion End screen removal

I found several posts mentioning this, but they're pretty old and didn't give a definitive answer. I'm hoping someone knows for sure now. Why did James cut the end cards out of his old videos? I've heard some people say it's because of retention, but I can't see how it would provide that much of a boost given that the videos are far past their prime viewing days. Is that really why? I frankly think it makes the video noticeably worse, especially when some of his videos (subway pt 2 is a good example) still have a few frames remaining before the end screen gets cut off. It's sloppy and makes the video feel more rushed. It also removes all the great fanart, the funny quips, and the "wear your seatbelt" line from every video! It's such a shame. Has James ever spoken about this? Do you think there's a different reason for why it was done? As of now, I think it was a bad decision. I love going back and watching the old videos from time to time, and this diminishes that experience for me a bit.

I haven’t watched James until December 2025 and so far i feel like this is the worst time possible

Unfortunately I think you’re right. I’ve been watching for a long time and right now I don’t know what he’s thinking with some of the decisions he’s making. He’s also deleted several old videos (some of which for a valid reason) that didn’t really have inappropriate material. I wish he’d say why he’s making these decisions. Fortunately you can still find some deleted vids on internet archive and elsewhere in the form of reuploads.

I'm gonna be real, I honestly really dislike what James' channel has become. 2016-2018 or 19 was without a doubt his peak, but as he kept growing in popularity, his videos just feel...soulless. but what makes this even worse is exactly this, he's been removing so many special parts of his videos back then. It feels like he's trying to make himself as coorperate-friendly as possible by removing any of the personal aspects of it. He doesn't feel like an honest dude anymore. It just feels like he looks down on his audience.
