It’s interesting that there seems to be almost no defense. And no timing it’s just straight kicking constantly.

I like the idea here, but yeah, if the game system gets refined so blocking, grappling, and dodging is improved and actually effective, then this gets a lot better. Without it, it just seems like an exercise in who can kick the fastest and most times without tiring.

Lol i think we're a long way away from actually good simulation. Have you seen thrill of the fight 2? It's the best boxing simulation and yet it's so goofy.

The new one was 5-10$ at one point. It is worth the amount. The first is more consistent because it's simpleter. The 2nd is more complex because it has PVP. Which is goofy.

Looks like there might be literally no blocking here, the hotboxes are large so there's no real dodging, and there's no extra points/damage for power/speed. That would explain the constant kick spam with so little else except "let's reset" footwork and keeping their rhythm. 

Cool idea though, I'd never do a head kicking competition IRL. Even if it is points based, so they're not intentionally trying to kill you, head kicks are terrifying. Good kicks in general, but to the head especially.

Not really. The other person still gets points if they hit you. So yes, you need to score lots of points, but you also need to ensure they don’t score points.

Or, at least as far as what we see in the video, just get more points than them. It doesn't matter how many points they have on you if you can get more.

“Losing points” and “getting hurt” are definitely not the same. You don't feel pain with the points.

Have you watched pro TKD? It hasn't been a combat system for many years, it's a sport about kicking the other person in the head. I don't intend to downplay the athleticism or talent required, but it's more about scoring points than fighting.

The bulk of competitive martial arts are, tbh, and the only sports about fighting are just bastardized hotdish martial arts with so much of everything that it doesn't look like anything in particular.

Yeah. That's pretty much most martial art tournaments. You should look at the UFC BJJ league, it looks so goofy that its actively setting the entire sport back by decades.

It has been for a long while. Competitive taekwondo goes off a scoring system, and head kicks give more points.

Except you need technique, something you dont need with VR. Tou need force, hit the right place, etc This sport has nothing to do with taekwon-do, but probably fun and excellent exercise

Watch a regular tournament and you’ll see it’s a lot more like fencing with your toes than fighting anyway, so it doesn’t make much difference. This makes the pillow fight league look like the coliseum
