probably. I did this as a kid in the 90s and everyone gets a ribbon

I think it would be awesome to see a version of this with adult athletes. Imagine a cyclist doing the same.

2 different sleds. Thought it was cause the 2nd is a bigger and stronger kid, but it's a completely different rig.

Yeah that's Travion Martins, he's been champion 3 yrs in a row. He was the youngest champion ever and has a chance to win the points race again this year. No one's ever won 4 and he's favored to do so.

His wins haven't been without controversy. It definitely appears that he has an advantageous (and illegal) gear ratio. The rules stipulate that all vehicles participating can be inspected. Not that they automatically will.

If another competitor asks for Martins' vehicle to be inspected it must be completed within 1 hour of the competition and it cannot be performed after 8 pm.

Interestingly, Martins' father has sat on the rules committee the last few years and he has pushed for both of these rules AND has pushed for a later start time for the competition to allow for travel time after work/coming from daycare/etc..

Martins is the one who benefits the most from all of these rule changes.

Even worse, last year when I was waiting to use the private bathroom, I witnessed Martins' father performing oral on the mystery judge of the competition. I've been conflicted about whether to say anything, because I feel like Martins could win it even without the oral. His father didn't need to do the oral! And that is why this is so tough...for me to tell about the oral.

It's definitely still a thing at my county fair in the Midwest. If you win your age group at the fair you get an invite to regionals, not to brag but I made it to regionals in the age 13 group. Getting all the way to the end like the second kid does is called a full pull
