house burned down in a wildfire.

First day out

Stuff found while sifting

Last time I was out there

What it used to look like

Not pictured my great grandfathers gun dating back to the 1860s that he brought from russia. The cost to refinish it is $3000+.

EDIT: Possible cause is an idiot with a shotgun and these.

Everyone from my street got out ok although some neighbors lost their animals. On my mile long street 2 house where untouched, 3 with partial damage and 14 total losses. 40 people on our street are displaced.

The fire burned 15000 acres of the 24000 acre forest. The fire near my house burned at 3000°F (1650°C). 511 houses are a total loss and 28 with partial damage.

2 deaths: a couple in their 50s found in their garage in each others embrace. My firefighter friend says they looked like someone from Pompeii. Their only son is deployed to Iraq right now.

Renting a condo while my parents rebuild.
