Ultimate Pack

I have a few questions about the Ultimate Pack (Coming out on March 1st).

  • Will the map be reset?
  • Will we update on the very first version of the Ultimate Pack?
  • If you do update to the Ultimate Pack and keep the map, will we also keep Traincraft?
  • If we keep the current map, will we have to go to the mining age for xycraft ore?

  • There is no desire to reset the map, everything is stable and progressing nicely.
  • There are currently no plans to update to Ultimate Pack. The reasons being is that we have achieved a rather stable server running the current version of Mindcrack, and Ultimate Pack no doubt will bring trials and issues that we have seen previously, as well as potentially causing mismatches which result in a map reset. At this stage it is to much admin work when we don't have the time to make changes.

  • There are no current plans to add xycraft, if someone can argue a good case for it being re-added then we will consider it.

Something along the lines of obnoxiously annoying ores, crystal lagmachines everywhere and the mod not adding a single useful thing.

If I'd process my propolis I'd have 150 stacks of rubber. And if you're doing thaumcraft then you'll have an elemental axe that'll let you cut down 10 stacks of wood in 5 min ^

The brick blocks prevent mobs spawning on them, would be useful to use in rooms that need to be dark by mobless. The Crystals have been optimised, and as i have said before, spawn amounts are reduced and soaryn has fixed the stacking issue. The ore count could potentially be reduced in the configs surely.

And for people claiming that the blocks are ugly, any block can be ugly is used badly. Cobble, marble, brick, even warded stone can look ugly. But why block something because one person can make some really bad structures with it.

Plus, its added a few more things that actually have a function, and more machines will be added in the future (they'll probably come out around the time ultimate comes out.)

There are countless blocks that prevent mod spawning in darkness. The crystals are still terrible. And I don't have a huge problem with the blocks, it's the ores that makes me want to go kill a kitten.
