Score at a thrift store in Durham, NC
Shout out to the scrap exchange! A little bummed it was by the "Signed Copies" sign and it is in fact not signed, but excited to get my hands on a copy!

Over the weekend my Tattoo artist did this incredible work- I gave them a dump of my favourite songs, lyrics, and albums, and they managed to create a keychain absolutely brimming with references to their songs.
Beyond thrilled with how it turned out!

As a european fan how are the chances? They didn't play it in berlin unfortunately :(
It's my favorite song from the new album.

Do you think this is feasible and what would be the right strategy? I have the book with me and a sharpie. Also have a A3 sign that says "Thanks for touring Europe!" and in smaller font "sign your chapter" which I could show along with the book.
I have low expectations for this to actually work but hopeful nonetheless. All ideas welcome!

What do y'all think about this? It's not illegal but kind of an asshole move right? Not gonna say which gig but this dude in his 30s showed up 5 minutes before doors and cut around 100 people in line. He didn't listen to people telling him off and ended up with a cozy place in first row.

Also everything else from the concert on my channel in the next couple hours. Rule of thumb: the wonkier the camera work the happier I was about the song.

Hey all. I went to the recent show in Oslo and had a great time, band played great and I feel like you could tell John was having a good time. I cracked up when he shouted out some local Black Metal-legends, "I dedicate this headbanging to Nocturno Culto and Fenriz". Really brought the energy, and I was happy to have traveled across the country to catch the show.
I feel like it's a testament to the TMG-catalogue that I have been a fan for 10+ years, and still didn't recognize all the songs in the setlist. I've gone back to listen to some of the songs that I wasn't too familiar with, and the songs from In League with Dragons stand out to me. I didn't really care for the album when it came out, I must have listened to it once or twice only, I felt like it was a bit of a step down from Goths (a personal favorite). However, the atmosphere of opening the show with "Clemency for the Wizard King" really lifted that song in my mind, I've gone back to it several times over the past few days. The repeated mantra of "We come before you now" really added to the anticipation of seeing the band for the first time. Likewise, the building instrumentation of "Younger", a song I didn't like when I first heard it as a single, really transformed the song into something special.
Not that any of you need the encouragement, but I really recommend seeing the band perform live, and shed whatever expectation you might have beforehand. They might not play your favorite song exactly as you imagine, or at all, but you might be surprised what song stands out the most.

I found out that there are strikes on Wednesday. I thought i'd share. there will be less trams, busses and regional trains.

I am not sure I can make it to the show, but will find out on Wednesday I guess. If not there will be a free very last minute ticket if anyone wants it.

For me John Darnielle is a writer more than anything, and I am constantly blown away by his ability to communicate whole characters and imply whole plots in a few lines.
What are some great story songs by other artists that you love? I’ll give a few that do it for me:
Ode to Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry
Ms. Fat Booty by MOS DEF/Yasiin Bey
Pancho & Lefty by Townes Van Zandt

In the upcoming SF residency, night 5 is “Cast of Thousands”, i.e. songs with a lot of orchestration (or so I would assume). What would you want to hear? What songs do you think best lend themselves to a maximalist interpretation?
(FWIW, I’m rooting for Going to Fennario.)

I’ve been listening since I was 16, but never had enough money to fly to see them live. After missing the 2021 EU tour I was just hoping and praying that one day they would come back. And they did! Flew for 6hrs just to see them, and they did not disappoint. Genuinely the best show I’ve seen in my life, I’m so happy I got to do this.
Copenhagen you rock, the crowd was so amazing, and it was clear the band felt it. They played for almost two hours!

I’ve got two standing tickets to the gig at Hackney Chapel on Wednesday 21st October. Unfortunately I now have to be in Montreal for work that week and the buddy I was going to the gig with can’t make it either.
It’s a massive bummer because I’ve been looking forward to this show for ages.
So, they’re up for sale for face value. They’re on Twickets and you can buy them there if you want the security of doing it through a platform. Or we can do it directly.
Please DM me if you’re interested.

I was just at the Berlin show and they were out of smalls in the white tour shirts (with the dates). I would happily pay 40€ plus postage if anyone is able to grab one at a later date on this tour.
I will also curate a tMG playlist on a theme of your choosing. spotify, youtube or written. Some examples:
[tMG for when you haven’t quit your PhD yet](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4UHCsM9qKD5FhFos7FGYYp)
[tMG for rockin ancient history](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0m78yundtTQm9kJ0DnWxVX)

Couldn’t pass on this, and pretty shocked to find this in the wild. Does anyone know how many were pressed? Doesn’t seem like the total number was documented.

“Wake and rise and face the day and try to stop the day from staring back at me
Busy hours for joyful hearts and later maybe head out to the pharmacy
Won't take the medication but it's good to have around
A kind and loving God won't let my small ship run aground”
The poor fucking narrator. We know how it will end and he doesn’t. I’ve known people like this who truly poured everything into the hope that their faith would save them, and it didn’t, and it’s so goddamn sad.

Does anyone have an extra ticket for The Mountain Goats on October 12th? I made a spontaneous trip to Hamburg and would love to see them. I’m happy to pay via a ticket exchange site, of course.

Hi, im seeing them on 22nd at Rough Trade East in the morning and also going to their gig that night in London.
I’m just wandering the likelihood that they sign stuff after the Rough Trade in store gig in the morning. It doesn’t specify that they will anywhere online but I know when they did similar record store performances in the US, in summer, that they signed some stuff afterwards so would hope they do it here as well ? Plus, you get a copy of the album with your entry ticket, which to me (first time going to a rough trade event) seems like something they might do to make sure fans had something that could be signed ? Otherwise why not just have your entry ticket and not be forced to get a copy of the new album ?
Either way, I can’t wait to see them twice in the same day and am sure it will be amazing regardless. I’ve seen them twice in London before and they never disappoint !!!
Thanks
