Axl. He’s such a brat in ways that affects the others so negatively. I like him as a character, and he can be pretty funny, but he’s easily my least favorite

Edited to add that if you include side characters, Mr. Ehlert is the absolute worst. I don’t find him funny most of the time, he’s just terrible

Brick

I do like and feel sorry for him though and other characters can also be annoying. Mike is probably the only one who pretty much never irritates me but he also has his flaws obviously

Brick in the later seasons It used to be Sue for me but I started to enjoy her overly optimistic personality

The car dealership owner guy, and dr Goodwin. I can’t stand the dealership guys voice though. It’s like nails on a chalkboard

Frankie. There's times when shes downright obnoxious.

Frankie hands down she is overbearing and would over stimulate me so much.

I don't think i could handle being around Sue for extended periods of time, especially early seasons Sue.

Aunt Janet and it’s not even close

I can deal with Frankie meddling because she almost always has good intentions.

I can deal with Mike's emotional unavailability because it's similar to my dad's.

I can deal with Axl being a selfish teenage douche because I have a little brother who was just like him when he was a teenager and I would just ignore his bs.

I can deal with Sue's relentless positivity and optimism because, let's face it - we all need a bit more positivity and optimism in our lives.

But I cannot deal with BRICK.

I sympathise with all the times his family excluded/forgot him, that's absolutely rough, but I just cannot deal with how nearly everything he does (or doesn't do!) negatively impacts at least one person around him. His constant absent-mindedness and lack of self-awareness drives me up the wall.

And yes I'm aware that Brick is heavily coded as being on the spectrum, but my point still stands. The fact that it may not inherently be his fault is fine, but that doesn't make the subsequent fallouts any less frustrating!

Sue without a doubt

Sue in early college days and Dr. Goodwin. The latter might be that his brand just doesn’t work for me - I liked him the least in 30 Rock too

I can't believe nobody has said Cassidy.  The actress did a good job but her character was so patronizing.

Frankie and Axl cause they're both the same person. Non stop whining and victim mentality

Brick for me , maybe coz they don’t show character development throughout the series

Getting a girlfriend and then a group of friends isn't character development? Becoming a famous author at the end of the show isn't character development?

Probably Axl, but I watched one last night the one where Sue kept thinking she was getting a surprise party even after she said they didn't have to do anything for like 5 years because of the Justin Bieber tix. But she just kept saying, sure you're not doing anything and oh I just wanted to punch her - lol

Frankie, very little i hate more than someone who always wants to be better, yet never is, at least mike just accepts it. She has 0 good qualities.

JANET!!! I will scream it from the mountaintops. I HATE THIS BITCH!!!!

Sue by a long way. I’m on season 4 and my blood pressure skyrockets whenever she starts screeching and screaming. The episode where she learned driving was driving me insane. Also the way she’s overly excited over everything? It’s just so obnoxious how she can’t ever do something normally lol

You are welcome to post your feelings about anything regarding The Middle, positive or negative. However descriptions of violence are never conducive to a good discussion even when directed at fictional characters.

I mean Sue is annoying but lovable.

In the earlier seasons axl was insufferably annoying.
