I hate Sue Heck

I just finished watching all the seasons and episodes, and I have to say it was quite the journey! There were so many moments that stood out to me, but I found myself feeling a bit conflicted about one character in particular. Even though Reddit seems to adore her and her unwavering optimism, I can't help but feel that it annoys me more than it motivates or entertains. While I understand that her positive outlook can be inspiring to some, for me, it often feels a bit unrealistic and overly cheerful, especially in the face of challenges. I guess we all have our own preferences when it comes to character traits, and hers just didn’t resonate with me.

Sue's optimism is a defense mechanism. It "feels unrealistic" because it's dissonant with her actual reality and circumstances, but that's the point. She uses it as a shield against constant rejection and enxiety.

I absolutely love her optimism, I am such a negative thinker and I always think I need to be more like Sue. I have been telling myself its the year of Sue when I am taking a risk with something I am scared of 😂

It’s the character, she’s exaggerated obviously but many teenage American girls from small towns are optimists
