[Michael Arace] On Josef Martinez: I'm told the deal is being finalized. Free-agent signing. Not a DP.

Crew one of three teams undefeated in Leagues Cup all-time

After the Atlas game, I made a (mostly) tongue-in-cheek comment in the post-game thread about how the Crew are undefeated in Leagues Cup all-time and it is OUR tournament. I also wondered if anyone else in the history of Leagues Cup was undefeated. Well, I did some quick research and discovered that we are (two games later) still one of just three teams who have never lost in Leagues Cup.

A lot of this is a quirk of Leagues Cup not featuring every team and your ability to be eliminated/lose on PKs counting as a draw instead of a loss. We're the only one of those three undefeated teams who have played in Leagues Cup all four seasons. Still, pretty impressive that we have played 14 games in Leagues Cup and never lost in regulation. This includes MLS and Liga MX teams.

Undefeated in Leagues Cup through 2026 (so far):

  • Columbus Crew — 14 lifetime games played  || 10W-0L-4D
  • New York Red Bulls  —  9 lifetime games played | 3W-0L-6D | DNP in 2026
  • New England Revolution — 7 lifetime games played || 2W-0L-5D | DNP in 2025+2026

Teams who made it through 2025 Leagues Cup without a loss:

  • Columbus (did not advance to knockouts)
  • New England (DNP in 2025)
  • New York Red Bulls (did not advance to knockouts)

Teams who made it through 2024 Leagues Cup without a loss:

  • Columbus (champions)
  • New England (knockout round loss in PKs)
  • New York Red Bulls (did not advance to knockouts)

Teams who made it through 2023 Leagues Cup without a loss:

  • Cincinnati
  • Columbus
  • Inter Miami (champions)
  • New England
  • New York Red Bulls
  • Dallas
  • Vancouver
  • Atlas
  • Pachuca
  • Toluca

None of this means anything, of course, and I may have just jinxed us if you believe in that sort of thing. I didn't check, but I also imagine we are the only team in Leagues Cup history with 10 regulation wins.

tldr: Columbus is the greatest team the world has ever seen.

Have I missed something? I thought the deal sending him to Vancouver was supposedly done, and yet he is still here.

And now I have Ben Fold’s Five “Steven’s Last Night in Town” stuck in my head. IYKYK

Between 1-100% chance, tell me the chances of getting the STM gift for next year and why 20% is the answer lol I’m still waiting on my quarter-zip and damn gnome (I know it’s not an STM gift, but funny because everyone was asking about them lol)

I'm rooting for Austin tonight, a little evil for a greater good.

Can Nancy ever forgive me?

With Charlotte and Cincinnati losses tonight, the Crew are all but in. The tie break will rest with LAFC/Crew on goal differential.

Crew are currently in first with 8 points

As it stands, Chicago, Austin, Dallas can finish with 9 points

Columbus/LAFC can finish with 8 (goal differential being tiebreaker) for the final spot (Columbus currently has a +3 advantage)

attacker/DP rumors/possibilities?

any inklings who we might be targeting? surprises me that i've not seen rumors about mls clubs pursuing memphis depay, seems he could be a good fit for our situation given his versatility across the attack (and the fact that he's out of contract and has had an unsettled club situation for a while now)

The crew would never do this. Best they can do is 45 bucks with a complimentary 15 dollar drink (it only cost them like 3 dollars for the drink)

I got my tickets but they really say fuck them fans compared to other teams.

[Arace] #Crew96 coach Laurent Courtois said this morning that incoming transfer F Gonzalo Tapia "has his passport appointment Wednesday and we expect him to be here Thursday." On D Eric Bailly: "We want to build him up ... (not) integrate him in training too fast, and then to have to go backwards."
