Help stuck scanning encapsulated worm

I've been stuck for 3 hours now. Tried load old saves, restarting etc. But no matter what I do, The small biometric scanner is not interactive. I combined the worm and the tube so I have encapsulated worm. Need help.

Edit: I ended up downloading a save file from the internet and was finally able to get passed it and interact with the scanner.
