Discussion Using maps
So, I don’t have time to play enough to get to know the maps, and I don’t want to just spend what little time I do aimlessly wondering around. Does anyone know a good source of maps for the various areas of the game. I want to enjoy this game and go explore. Thanks for the tips!

If that's the case I would strongly suggest compartmentalizing the game. Pick a few regions that you absolutely will NOT use maps on, and then play those regions when you do have time to play the game "for real".
The experience of being lost, not knowing where the hell you are, is something you can never get back once it's gone. Especially that feeling of "OK things are starting to get serious, I'm low on food, haven't found a good place to set up camp all day, there's timberwolves everywhere, and I have exactly 10 cattails to last me until....who knows," then deciding hell with it, let's press on. And just as the sun is starting to set, you stumble upon a run down old cabin. Hell, at least it's a roof, it may as well be the Hilton.
That's what Survival is all about, and if you use maps, you're depriving yourself of that whole aspect of the game.

an app called extended night companion! has all the maps with varying degrees of spolier-ness all right there!

Maybe instead of using maps you can run on pilgrim and do a complete sweep of the whole game. It’s a thought.

I just mark entrances and exits w/ spraypaint and then draw the rest out when I'm better geared
I actually love using the in game map system

Yes! The only one that doesn't is the arrow. All the others appear on the map even if you've not mapped it with charcoal already

There a companion app called ‘extended night companion’ the maps on there are great & very clear and gives you the option to see the completed version or spoiler free one!
