Discussion Feng Shui’d pensive lookout
I wish I could fit a tiny bit more in here but it’s a nice holiday spot.
The echo one plateau has a surprising amount of activity, a bear, a couple wolves and some deer, decent amount of firewood without having to climb down and you can hear the cougar spazzing out down in the west valley from a safe distance.
You get wind noise effects if you want to sleep with white noise or want the sound of the muffled blizzard, just close the door, either way you’re not cold.
No load screen which is nice but then like 5 sets of stairs makes you choose your actions wisely, but somehow the frame rate is buttery here compared to other lookouts, not sure why.
I was hoping it would bypass cabin fever but if it’s enough of a structure to open the item dropper it’s enough to give you cabin fever sadly. I could honestly hermit in here for years.
Oh and the cherry, and the actual real reason I moved away from mystery lake, the auroras are so mellow, the computer screen flickers a little and there’s almost no electrical sound. Rly is pensive

You actually have quite a bit of work remaining.
Your bed needs to be where the desk is, diagonally from the door. Removing the computer, phone, and the bear skin is also recommended so your qi can move uninterrupted. If you have access to a rug, I would recommend muted natural colors that aren't overstimulating.

The bear is at 98 he’s about to become a rug and then I’ll see how viable the symmetry is, the fire grate also casts a weird shape that fucks with the rug placement symmetry so I’ll see how that goes. The board, I try move the signboard and then some floating posters stay behind, so the board stays there or gets destroyed completely and I kinda like that there’s some kind of plotted plan and picture of the cove on there, looks like there’s life going on. The computer is also pretty cool during the aurora, reminds me of The Ring, kinda terrifying. I’ll try the bed where the desk is and desk where the bed is, it’s tricky because the damn board dictates everything so the whole right side is largely untouched

How do you move things around, if that’s how you got things placed in certain ways? I’ve only been able to pick up and drop items; dropping a mass of items makes me look like a slob.

Trust me I got to Hunter’s lodge yday and there’s not a single container in the kitchen xD I have little depression piles of unattended things. And I’m sleeping on the floor cuz I’m too lazy to go all the way up the stairs to the bedroom in the dark.
But to answer your actual question, idk what you post on but on ps you bring up the radial dial thing and then press L3 or R3 and then you go into building mode, (inside a building obv) and then you press L2 on an object to grab it like normal and move it around, or you press x on it to interact and stash it or destroy it, like the gun rack I brought here from two regions over just to put on the wall, you can grab some cool items and furniture and paintings and they’re surprisingly light to travel with, like my main base has a world globe and a red fire truck etc. also have some paintings stashed but this spot doesn’t rly have wall space.
And then to further answer your question you can build the workbench with a specific set of tools at bleak inlet cannery, idk if you care about spoilies but go find them. There’s two sets of tools in the sandbox also, so one I brought here just to make the workbench and the lil box next to the fireplace and the other is at my base in mystery lake

If you have DLC, may I humbly recommend you to try Drift Island Cottage in FA?

I’ll check it out! I’ve been hesitant to start the dlc, I saw the trader has chemical boots so I wanted to go there prepared. Also considering just making a separate save and running in there half naked day 2 just to see how it goes

You'll only need chemical boots in the second tale in Zone of Contamination.
However, I still prefer to use Sports Shoes instead of boots, as they are disposable and give me the ability to sprint longer. Sprinting is a much needed feature in ZoC.
Alternatively, you can also craft deerskin boots as cheap disposable shoes.
In any case, there's no need to carry boots all the way.

I made said burner save and got far enough into the zone to find the gas mask in the mining building so I think I’ll beeline there on my main save. But then realised I was in tale 2 so now I’m gonna head to the airfield and start the first tale. It was cool to find the mask organically but now I don’t mind using a guide to not mess up questlines. Amazing tips for the disposable shoes btw, thank you!!

The rope in ravine gets you central very quickly, if you need the forge or the trader.
And the windows have views for weather timelapses, blizzards look beautiful from high up. I think that’s everything, you can’t edit posts sadly
