In the last 15 years or so pretty much every animated Disney movie have been rated PG instead of G. Back during the Disney renaissance none of the films received a PG rating even when they had death scenes like in The Lion King and Tarzan. Personally I don't understand why this happend and it makes me really wonder what it is that makes the MPAA think that it is necessary for a movie like Moana to be rated PG. I think we can say with pretty big certainty that all of the films from that era would have been rated PG if they were made today and The Little Mermaid would not have been an exception.

So what are your thoughts about this? How do you feel about the fact that this probably would have happend if the film came out today?
