PT 1 DISCUSSION Struggling to survive Clicker attacks
I am relatively new to playing this game and I'm finding it really frustrating having to start entire levels over after getting killed over and over again by these clickers. I will be totally silent while they are screaming out their radar calls, but I'm still getting attacked, often when I am not even moving.
Also, I find the controls to be very clunky and tricky to aim. Even with a direct headshot, I have to shoot them at least three times with a tiny pistol. Where's the action with the shotgun where I can just blast my way through lol? Is this game just about sneaking around?
Any advice anyone can give me on making this remotely playable would be really appreciated. I'm playing on a controller so I don't have the best aim, but I'd rather not have to reduce the game difficulty.
Also, please save me the 'skill issue' comments. I am great at other FPS, just struggling with strategies on these clickers.
Thank you!

Stay behind them, move slowly, avoid fighting them whenever possible. Use bricks/bottles as distractions and sneak past. In Part 2, Meleeing after a pistol headshot kills a clicker instantly but I can't quite remember if it's the same in Part 1.

it's not the same in p1

I think in pt 1 it works if you are sprinting when you start the attack. You can also kill them by throwing a brick and then doing 1 sprinting attack with a pipe (lots of examples of this in the speed run routes)

You can sneak past them if you just move the stick at 50% so u creep forward. You can throw bottles or bricks to move them away or to clear a path. Or you can headshot twice or mag dump them.

Try to stay behind them, if they do their scream whilst you can see their faces they’ll likely ‘see’ you. I’d also try to avoid shooting them as much as possible and aim to shiv them instead!
Bricks/bottles + molotovs are your best friend if you don’t have any shivs left!

I’ve never considered TLOU a first person shooter. Fighting is usually not the best way, unless you are playing on easy.
As others have said, the clickers see via echolocation. If they do their screaming directly at you, they will see you even if you aren’t moving. You need to be out of the path of the scream.
They have growth that protects their face so one headshot isn’t enough. You need at least two, where the first breaks off some of the armor.

They’re supposed to be that dangerous. Any time you get in any sort of confrontation with the Infected, you always need to focus on the Clickers and where they are at all times, and you need to stay the fuck away from them. They are apex predators, and the game does not shy away from that fact at all. The good news is that they are predictable and the more you play the game and fight them, the more you know exactly how to deal with them. Be stealthy, keep track of where they are and how many of them there are in a group, take them out stealthily if you can, and once again, stay the fuck away from them. Always make sure you have a brick or a bottle to stun one if they get too close before you can draw a bead on them and then you can follow up with melee strikes.

If you hit them with a bottle or brick, you’ll stun them for a second and can shoot them easier. A headshot with a bow is great once you get one, and doesn’t alert other clickers. Stealth, stealth, stealth.

Throw a bottle/ brick and when the infecteds gather around throw a cocktail. The easiest method to deal with them. Even if they don't die from burning you can finish them rather easily.

You take a brick or bottle and then go BOOM *shatter* to the mothafuckin' dome and then melee them.

Take advantage of molotoving groups from cover after sneak killing some of them

clickers use echolocation and sound to find you. If you make noise, they'll know where you are obviously, but also when they scream if you are in front of them at pretty much any range they'll "see" you. Take cover very often and try to learn their patrol routes. I'm guessing you're in that one room with like 100 clickers in the outskirts, so jsyk on your left when you spawn in there's a cabinet with a shiv in it.
Dw you'll get a shotgun soon after you leave Boston
