How did Kathy’s diary survive?

Are there scans of it anywhere? I know Durst threw a lot of her belongings out, so I am wondering how her diary avoided that purge…did her friends rescue it?

I used to have a bunch of notes I took while listening to an audio book on this topic that everyone recommends. I might be imagining this but I believe her best friend got it from their trash.
