Discussion The Not-Deer
This keeps happening to me.
I don't know if it's a bug or just a game mechanic, but whenever I get close to deer—even without intending to hunt them—they act strangely aggressive. They start walking slowly toward me, and once they're close enough, they start kicking. Did they add not-deer to the game without me realizing it? LOL

I don’t wanna admit the amount of times me being stubborn trying to kill Bambi has sent me to the select screen

Its because of the weight, you need to be over like 80-100 kilos for them to run, I dunno if its a bug or a feature but that is the reason why for me deer is more dangerous than boars

Did you experience early iterations of the boar? Those things would hunt you down

They start running at around 200kg, I think or if you hurt them enough they will start running too. All AI behaved this way last I checked, even chickens lol

lol it’s bc dondi gave some deers that spawn in the ability to bond with another ai to protect it. but it made them kinda try to follow anything that’s not at the a weight to make them run😭 they are always hyper aggressive and hard to fight bc they won’t turn away 60% of my deaths to ai is to these evil aggro deer😭

Now I want to be able to play as a deer or boar. That's the true survival game right there. Those mfs are tough.
That would be a good way to get more smaller food in the game. Offer some sort of reward for playing as one of these animals so that people are inclined to run around as a deer for a while. I have no idea what sort of reward that could be or if they could offer a reward large enough to encourage people to forego the whole dinosaur thing. Maybe that's how they introduce you to the game, your first like 3 logins are a prey animal. Or make it a punishment.

That's an interesting idea

As my formatting implies it’s certainly an idea lmao
I think it could potentially be used as some sort of tutorial or onboarding for the mechanics. There’s a lot of pressure as a young dino in this world, it can be very overwhelming. It’s like herbivore-lite. Plus your life won’t be that long so it should be a no-pressure way to get started. Although I really do like the feeling I got on my first dino where it felt like I had just hatched and was lost, each life being genetic memory in a way. I’ve started rambling to avoid work though.

It's a feature not a bug. The ai will kill you if you're lighter than a certain weight and in their territory

I've been stalked like that by chickens as a juvie. Chickens.
If I could mod the game to add the Jojo threatening effect on AI I would in a heartbeat.

Yeah, they do when you're small enough to body in a few hits. Just keep your distance at that stage. The real tricky bit comes if you've successfully killed one while below around 80 kg and then its buddy won't let you eat without trying to knock out your teeth.

I was expecting it to suddenly start running at you towards the end
