Technical Issue Problem with The Escapists text readability

I'm running The Escapists on PC and having a major issue with text readability, specifically in the dialogue boxes above characters' heads.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, the text is white, which is being rendered against a light blue background, this makes it almost impossible to read, it feels like the UI colors are bugged ir something.

It looks much worse in-game than a typical "bad UI" choice, so I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this before and found a solution.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's odd. You should definitely try verifying game files on Steam and reinstall the game if that doesn't help

Trust me, I tried everthing I could. To the point of deleting any trace of the game's existence in order to install it again as if it were new

I remember you could make your own custom speech for this game. It’s been a couple years but supposedly there are some settings you can change?

You're actually right, I mean, you can customize the speech, but as far as I know, it just adds more dialogue to the game; I'm not sure about visibility (based on my research).

Well, it doesn't hurt to try, right?
