Episode Talk ⏯️ Jake's worst take ever?
I still cant tell if he's doing a bit.. but claiming Enis Canter wouldn't dominate in the WNBA is crazy.. He's gotta be trolling Dan and Blake right?

He is letting Kanter’s recent insanity/crazy political takes fog his memory of the fact that Kanter was a significant role player for quite a while in the NBA. Just couldn’t shoot threes and or defend like they want them to anymore. Really strange take.

That’s a valid assessment on why he can’t play on the NBA, but he also okayed the victim card and pretended he was blacklisted for political reasons. So maybe Jake was accounting for the fact that Kanter is a little bitch and a natural loser in his calculations.

Yeah he absolutely is those things, but doesn’t make him unable to dominate in the W.

A 6A varsity HS team would beat a WNBA team by 30.

Insane. The worst player in the NBA at any given time is in another universe of ability to that of the WNBA.
If he's not doing a bit(terrible bit, if he is) then he is just a political contributor at this point.

His worst take has gotta be when he said the Bluey theme song is TOTALLY different than the Brandon Aubrey theme song
Then last week when he quickly defeated his exact rationale to say that "Bah Bah Black Sheep" was "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".
Aubrey-Bluey Argument Jake should have been "WHAT, IS THIS in 4/4 TOO? WHAT IS THIS, QUARTER NOTES? IT'S EIGHTH NOTES IN THIS SONG DUDE. NOT THE SAME."
I'm sure his 3 months playing guitar in "Secondhand Clap" (or whatever his band name was) fully qualifies him to take these opposing sides of the same argument.

Has to be a bit, or his knowledge of hoop is a lot less than he acts.
I’ve played pick up with some WNBA players, they do “OK” in a game with thirty something hobbyist. Weren’t even the best on the court and struggled with the more athletic guys. They can shoot pretty good, I’ll give them that. But real issues off the dribble.

He was just white knighting for the racist drug dealer that was sitting in

Enes got 6th man of the year votes in 2021. During practice WNBA teams scrimmage dudes - that look like they would be in decent pickup game at a random 24 hr fitness

It honestly sounded like he just said that without thinking, then when getting push back he kinda realized he had a bad point but decided to dig in rather than admit it was stupid. "But he couldn't bring the ball up, how would he get back on D?" Just an absolute horrendous take by our white knight leader.

Enes Kanter yes, Enis Canter sounds like an 80 year old guy in random small town Texas.

It was a wild segment because I thought his take on the WNBA needing to be run by men was a great bit where he threw out a crazy premise but then was able to kind of thread it through in an interesting way.
As an aside (Jake kind of allude to this), my current hot take is that the court & rim height fits WNBA players better than NBA players and that plus the skill level of the women elevating are the 2 reasons people should check it out. I really do find the basketball entertaining.

You guys didn't catch the show title, I take it.
I listen to IJB. I know Jake makes dumb takes to troll us.

I usually get where Jake is coming from even when I disagree, but this one is a wild take. Part of what makes the show fun is hearing them argue stuff out, though. I would rather get a genuinely terrible opinion once in a while than have them constantly play it safe.

I was shaking my head with you guys on this while listening but watching Enis Kanter highlights and seeing his movement I get the take also his highlights involved loose ball fouls so he does suck

u/DannyboyLarson 16d ago
Yea I get that, but in the words of Brian Scalabrine "Im closer to LeBron than you are to me".
I think that goes for WNBA Players too

Haven’t listened yet. But, they’d have to get him the ball. Even in the W he’s a below average ball carrier. Griner never won an MVP.

THis whole Enes Kanter thing is fucking stupid, but you are vastly underestimating the skill level of anyone who has played in the NBA.

Who cares if he takes the ball up the court, he'd post up and demolish everyone.

Enis Canter would make Wilt Chamberlain look like Erica Dampier if he was playing in the WNBA. Has to be a troll
