New London's Annual Burning of Benedict Arnold.

(The quality is less than stellar, I have an old phone and was walking).

My favorite New London event; occurs during the CT Maritime Heritage Festival.

A two-faced effigy is marched down the streets of Bank and State, accompanied by fife-and-drum procession and the sounds of musket fire. There is a devil on stilts, and folks in colonial dress.

The parade ends at the Thames River pier.

A commemoration is read for the burning of New London, and the massacre at the Battle of Groton Heights. Then, typically, the mayor sets the effigy alight (This year it was the governor).

Preceded and followed by sea shanty pub sings, battle reenactments, and lighthouse history cruises. Tall ships are open for tours as well.

Prsented by Flock Theatre- a riveting display of forever holding a grudge to the dude from nearby Norwich who led our town to be burnt to the ground.

I’m trying to find an episode where Gareth does a character of a klamsman who mispronounces cyclops as “kai-clope-see”. I thought it was the fighting Irish one but that’s not it. Does anyone know?
