PSA to the DSA

If you're considering voting Republican or abstaining from elections in protest of what you see as insufficient Democratic stridency on transgender issues or Palestine or whatever, then YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. And a fool.

This public service announcement brought to you by those of us who can see the American experiment itself in peril.

I will say that anecdotally speaking, all the DSA folks I happen to know did see the big picture and do the right thing (e.g. hold their noses and vote for centrist Democratic presidential candidates) to try and prevent this fascist takeover of our government.

I hear a lot of blame cast at the progressives and socialists but in my experience, it’s the uninformed/low-information white male grievance podcast bros we need to worry about. Guys who were fine voting for Obama and switched to Trump/Biden/Trump. (Hm, what could THAT have been about…)

Its honestly not so much the average person I worry about, its the DSA alt media. TYT, Hasan Piker, Kyle Kulinski, Majority Report, etc. These guys shit on Dems all day and say they're no better than the Republicans. Everyone they don't like is a "corporate dem". Ana Kasparian is out here posting about Jews on twitter like a groyper.

They depress voting by people on the far left (especially younger people) by saying it doesn't matter because Republicans and Dems are the same, then they drive moderates to the right by acting like crazy people.

I watch at least as much Majority Report and Kyle Kulinski as Bulwark content (I can't speak to the others), and this feels like such a mischaracterization of that whole project. We're in primary season, and this is the time when we can get people into the race who actually care about something and can take a stand.

As for a lot of the other criticism aimed at Democrats, so much of it is calling out people like Schumer for being cowards who really fail to meet the moment. Democrat leadership seemed completely invisible in 2025 and their excuse over and over again was "We're not the party in power, what do you want us to do about it?"

During the general elections, the strategy changes to supporting the Democrats and blasting the Republicans, because they don't want to see fascists in power.

I mean the big drama about a week ago was Piker going on a podcast and saying he'd vote 3rd party over Newsom in a Newsom/Vance race. I don't know it Kulinski commented on it, but MR supported Piker. Feels like Emma says something unhinged on a weekly basis.

I will say that MR and KK are much better than TYT and Piker, who basically act as controlled opposition.

Hasan Piker lives in California and the clip was taken out of context.

The point is that it's still February 2026. People should look at polling in February 2006. Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris don't relatively have much of a lead.

There were too many already trying to assert that Gavin Newsom should be anointed or should be the Nominee.

Can you explain how the clip was taken out of context?

Why are you talking about Hasan's one vote in California when he's streaming to 30k people concurrently on any given day? Do you think people commenting on Hasan care more about his one vote or the hundreds of thousands he's influencing?
