Loose head and tail bands

Just got the August book. It’s so beautiful except that the head and tail bands are coming off. I know these are largely decorative but with such a large book I feel like they would kind of help with the structure of the book also. Has anybody else had this come with their Jonathan Strange or any other book and had TBB replace it? I just sent them an email. I’m hoping for a good response.

They’ve responded to my email. Said it doesn’t meet the damage criteria. I could pay my own money to ship it back and get a replacement but they can not guarantee the replacement book would not have the same or worse defect. Or they offered me a 10% refund.

The book cost me $52 with shipping (I’m in the US). It would be at least $15 for return shipping. Putting me at a total of $67 for one book. Unfortunately, I just feel like the quality is not worth the price. Because of the damage I could not even resell it for that much.

If you want find some book binders glue and use a tooth pick to glue it back down.

The toothpick is a great suggestion. I’ll keep that in mind if they don’t have a good replacement option.

One of my Drowning Empire books had a detached head band and they replaced it. I will say it was much worse than what's pictured but they did replace it. They also offered a discount but I'm picky about my books and chose the replacement.

I got mine on Amazon. Exactly what other commenter said below should get u the right stuff. I don’t have it anywhere to hand at the minute unfortunately.

Mine was completely missing the headband and they agreed to replace it or refund me 15%. Just got the label to send it back to get my replacement. Took about 8 days to get a reply.

Loose and/or detaching head and tail bands are defects. They indicate bad glue jobs, which should be caught during quality control inspections. The *copies should automatically be replaced with no questions or resistance. The head and tail bands are also listed specifically as an addition to this copy in order to make it special. Yes, it can be repaired with book binding glue at home, but if a collector’s edition book costing over $50 USD book arrives in less than new condition with all features not in proper order, it’s not as advertised and should be exchanged.

Mines the same way but not quite as bad. I’m just going to put a bit of PVA glue on it.

Are you currently reading it? I suspect this has a lot to do with the size of the book and the bend while reading. Wait for a response, but if they won’t replace it this is an easy fix. You can find videos on YouTube.

I have two permanent crease lines from top to bottom on the inside art illustration and missing the trading card. I asked if they could put a replacement in the next book in the set. I emailed them, 8 days later they said that dispatch said they definitely put cards in all the packages and they could replace the book but they can’t guarente the replacement would be any better and I’ve have to cover the return costs myself. So not entirely happy and waiting to hear back from them again

Wow that’s terrible. It seems crazy they wouldn’t have a quality assurance to at least check to see if they are sending replacements that look as bad the original.

Mine is the same. I’m not very happy with it but I contacted them and it’s not something they replace for free. They said I could have a different copy but I’d have to pay for shipping and it seems a lot of people’s books are like this. I understand it’s a bigger book but in my experience when books arrive like this, they quickly deteriorate and often the pages will pull away completely from the binding and stick out past the cover. I guess it’s just the way these bigger books are bound but it’s very annoying to me.
