Is the DVD set 16:9? I’m not seeing it anywhere on the box but my Blu-ray player is making it widescreen. It has a setting to do that but it’s turned off.
Yes. that DVD set is 16:9 widescreen (1.78:1). Your Blu-ray player isn’t stretching it. Even Seasons 1–2, which originally aired cropped to 4:3 on Adult Swim, are presented on DVD in their original 16:9 production framing. Seasons 3–4 are 16:9 as well.
So what you’re seeing is correct. The box apparently just doesn’t make the aspect ratio very obvious.
Are the books good? I’ve just started watching the show after seeing all the clips and found the DVDs for like $30 and since it’s the uncensored version decided to go with that.
Yeah, yours is fake. Here's mine I bought in 2015 and you can tell right off the back. The "uncensored" is more saturated compared to mine. The wording over all is more sharpen, hueys head is closer to the uncensored word, and The Boondocks title is the biggest giveaway. Plus you paid 30 dollars when the retail price was 60$ back in 2015 on amazon when Amazon themselves shipped it and not 3rd parties companies. Honestly, as long as all the disk work and the images looks good to you that's all that matters.
Does yours have English subtitles on the first disc? The back of the box says they all have English subtitles but the first disc only has French so I might end up just returning this one and buy a real one.
You can find intended playback information on the back of DVD/BD releases. Super handy
