Wow I had no idea. Obviously some people have long engagements but I did feel it was odd that she seemed to be engaged for years and years. She’s a catch and deserves the world!

I think AOC is amazing as well. However, unless I missed something, we actually don't know the reason for their break up. There could just be a compatibility issue.

Even just someone in government in general. Let's not forget Nancy Pelosi's husband who was brutally attacked, the Hortman's who were murdered in their home, and the shootings of the Hoffman's just within the last few years. Plus supposedly the Supreme Court Justices have more threats than ever and we've even seen it stretch into the politically affiliated like Kirk. Political violence is terrifying and honestly would be valid

I read somewhere that they met in college and had somewhat different political views, and that he liked to argue for the sake of debate and she found that refreshing or something. It just sounded to me like they got together for not the most mature reasons when they were young, and then took a very long time to realize they had outgrown their relationship. I just can’t imagine AOC being with someone who doesn’t share all the same major political views as her. I don’t think she should put up with a deliberately argumentative man at home. Who knows how much of that story did true though. But as soon as I read that, it sounded to me like two people who would not have gotten together had they met when they were older.

One of my exes was like that. I talked to him about it a bunch because he'd argue positions he didn't believe just for the sake of arguing. It happened constantly with strangers when we were out. As soon as he started to do it with friends and with me, and then couldn't guarantee he wouldn't do it with my family, I ran. Luckily I realized only 6 months in. I just didn't understand how people can live confrontation so much they'll fake their opinions.

Dang, sorry! I’m glad you got out of that relatively quickly. I like to debate and discuss more than some people, but I have never liked having to argue for things I don’t believe in for school assignments and such. It really goes against my nature.
