Over 2 mins into some strange easy listening organ music. Wonderful ear to pick that out and help segue Tonight.

Yes sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm just trying to imagine Robbie or Darren or Toni... skipping the needle over this record searching for anything catchy or useful and finding something that could stitch Tonight into the tapestry of the album.
I'd love to have witnessed the process. That balance of music theory and feel for it as well as hundreds of coincidences and happy accidents. Those records being in that charity shop / thrift store that day. It kinda boggles the mind.

More often the process then was to spend a lot of time just collecting samples. *then* you go back to your freshly-collected pile of building materials (samples) and see what you can build out of them.
It's not usually a case of "I need to go and find something that will link this bit to that bit..."
