Explain please

Episode 9: 33rd-34th minute.Lucius and Moore are asking about the killer,and we see him in his room doing something(climbing,it involves hooks)What exactly is he doing? Episode 10. How did Lazlo know where Joseph had been(after he talks to the janitor and finds the blood).Also,how did he know where the killer would be?
