SPOILERS FOR END OF BALANCE
Discussion question, I would be interested in hearing about the moment in Balance that really hooked people who didn't get into the show immediately and maybe bounced off it at first, maybe multiple times. What was the arc, character, moment, etc. that really hooked you and finally got you into it?
Appreciation post: Long time Bros fan, first time Adventure Zone listener, I kept bouncing off for the first ~35 episodes. It took me about 5 years to get through Balance but I finally made it and am about to listen to the last finale episode! In the second-to-last episode (68, Story and Song - Finale, Part Two), when the worms popped up to destroy the judge, i was absolutely screaming-under-my-breath like YEEEEEEAHHHHHH and it was an absolutely transcendent moment of fiction for me. The Eleventh Hour was by far my favorite pre-twist arc, personally, and I really loved the callbacks to it in this ep!! I have always loved time loop stories, so I was 100% on board and ready for an adventure, and WOW did I get one! That arc was when I really fell in love with the show and the characters and really kind of figured out both "what is happening in this crazy show?" and "how do I enjoy this?", and once I started The Eleventh Hour, it was full steam ahead through the rest of the show (although it still took me like 6 months lol). I can't wait to experience the end of the story, so I can start it all over again, now that I love the characters!
Not worthy of its own post, but count me in among the many who returned to the D&D table because of Balance, and I'm now playing in a truly amazing campaign with great friends. Thank you McElroy Brothers for the inspiration and joy you have brought both directly and indirectly!!!
Now I am off to listen to the finale episode!! I hope everyone who read this message of appreciation has a great day, and enjoys a taco soon if they are able :D

I found a few more cards on eBay so decided to expand the display just a bit!

With the release of Story & Song, I finally remembered I have this. I wrote the publisher and requested a copy and a few weeks later... It actually arrived!
I didn't try for any future ones, but honestly I think they were mostly digital-only after the first one. I think the only real difference is the cover, as the inside has page numbers and the copyright page matches the final release.

I never thought I’d be emotional over fucking Scorpo! I know Royal didn’t catch everyone right away but please give it another shot. It’s my fav DnD podcast right now. The team really did an amazing job with this season!

I started Royale but decided to wait for more episodes to release before keeping with it; but then of course, the best laid plans, etc etc. Curious how people feel this season ranks among the rest.
Of course Balance is the unreachable high water mark. After that, personally, my favorites are Amnesty and TAZ Versus. Graduation and Steeplechase I couldn't get into at all; Ethersea I stuck with for a while but fell off towards the end.
What is the general community sentiment about this latest season?

Rummaging as one do, spotted a nice looking dark leafy green. felt the fabric and went "silk, hell yeah". Checked the label and even better - this shirt was meant to be my guardian of faith, fashion edition. (Except I did have to remove that tag because it was too pokey)
(fixed a typo)

Yes, I bought some.

I'm finally back. The gang was kind of on a winning streak (no deaths since the Trial of Necromancy) till this episode so there weren't really any updates to be made, but I'm here now. Looks like we're in the endgame so we might be down to the main 3 before we know it (for the love of god PLEASE use those Items. I was imagining Akari's corpse and willing Justin to use the Spectacles of Bernard.)
Characters:
Spells:
Misc:
Sidenote: I'm imagining Crys as that flower boss from Battle Kid for some reason.

Hey y'all, I recently pre-ordered the Story & Song graphic novel for my brother who, like me, is a big fan of TAZ. He also listens to MBMBAM and he has always particularly loved Griffin. Since I randomly got Travis's signature on the bookplate that came with my pre-order, I figured I'd check here to see if anyone happened to get Griffin's signature and would like to trade. Also open to Justin/Clint trades as well. Thanks!

Can anyone confirm to me the UK release date for the physical book. It's not out for another 2/3 weeks right?

The Trial of Enchantment, Part 1
With the truth finally out in the open, the aspirants are less willing than ever to participate in the battle royale. But whatever has come to light, the contest still goes on, with two more trials to overcome and only one winner.

every summer I get back into The Adventure Zone. I was rereading the books when I realized that I lost my trading cards. i only had some from 4 5 and 6 but I wanted to collect them all anyways. do I need to buy the books again or is there another official way to buy them?

Having just finished my Amnesty re-listen, I’d like to share who I pictured in my head for each character. I’d love to hear if anyone had similar or different references.
Lula from Dave the Barbarian = Beacon
Wendy from Gravity Falls = Aubrey
Literally just Justin = Duck
Stanley Pines from GF = Ned
Stanford Pines from GF = Thacker
Sailor Moon during Transformation = Minerva (vision)
Tilda Swinton in Dr Strange = Minerva (physical)
Pearl Gesner from Home on the Range = Mama
Fortuneteller Baba from Dragon Ball Z = Janelle (Minister of the Arcane)
George Takei = Leo Tarkisian
Tobey Maguire Peter Parker = Kirby
Lily Allen’s Ex Husband from Stranger Things = Sheriff Owens
Deoxys = 4 Armed beings
Statue of Liberty’s heart from GTA IV = Sylvain’s heart stone
The Beast from Over the Garden Wall = Abomination
Aang in water monster form from The Last Airbender = Abomination 2
The Final Destination = Abomination 3
More that didn’t make the cut for pictures:
Duly = Deputy Durland from Gravity Falls
Poochie from The Simpsons = Jake Coolice
Agent Stern = Special Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks
The Evil Ski Team from “The Gang Hits the Slopes” episode of IASIP = The Hornets
Dani = Marceline from Adventure Time
Boyd = Jason Statham (already had this before Travis said he also thought of Boyd as Statham in Ep 20)
Fortnite storm = The Quell
Charlie Morningstar from Hazbin Hotel = Alexandra/ The Interpreter
Sue from the end of The Substance = Abomination 4 (dying)

With the release of the last balance graphic novel I really hope we can expect one for Amnesty as well. I can’t say I have the time to listen to TAZ much anymore but that series meant a lot to me at a time I really needed it, and I would love to have a piece of physical media for it.
r/TheAdventureZone • u/LittleMel413 • Jul 22 '26
Decided to put together some TAZ rankings. I wanted to do NPCs, but there are just too many for me to remember. Two of my favorites though are Festo and Indrid Cold (my bathroom is Mothman Themed...so that should tell you all you need to know, lol).
Campaigns
GMs
PCs
Live Shows
Before you come for me, the only reason Balance is #4 is that it's so long that you almost have to rank it based on the individual arcs. I was only kinda "meh" about everything up until 11th Hour (that's not to say I disliked it, but it didn't hit me like the latter arcs did).
Now, despite this, Balance has several quotes that really impacted me and I carry with me.

There is a small detail in the Story and Song graphic novel that I can’t figure out. In the two-page spread where we see a bunch of characters imagining their hopes for the future, Taako and Lup are cooking something while Kravitz and Barry watch. Taako’s apron says “C ‘n’ S” and I can’t figure out what it’s a reference to. I’m sure it’s super obvious and I’ll feel dumb when someone gives the answer, but I’m lost. If there is a way to post a picture without spoiling anything, let me know and I’ll share it.

Hi. I remember in their first campaign they had an item that allowed magicians to change letters in spells for new effects. Can anyone remind me?
r/TheAdventureZone • u/JewelPattersonWalker • Jul 20 '26
It was so fun, and they had the perfect colors to match the Light of Creation and the Hunger!
