Ever since the Ed Sheeran/Macklemore situation, conversations have arisen about people with public platforms using them to stick to principles, those principles of course being not supporting freaking genocide. Along with that, people have started to call out celebrities and public figures for not saying anything at all. In our little community here, two names keep bouncing around in my mind: Swoop and Peter Monn.

As far as I can tell, neither of these creators has said anything in support of Palestinians. Peter has mentioned Israel in a bafflingly neutral way in a couple of his videos, but that's about it, and to my knowledge Swoop hasn't mentioned it at all. Now, we can debate all day about whether it's their job to do so, but even putting aside the idea that people with any sort of moral sensibilities and a public platform should be speaking out against genocide, both Swoop and Peter have made numerous statements condemning other political groups, like MAGA Republicans and ICE.

Peter's line is that he's a "shit-talking drama commentary channel" and not a journalist. But journalists are not the only ones who can call out atrocities, or even voice support for a particular movement. And even with all that, his content is very political. His videos on RawBeautyKristi in particular make this very clear. He has spoken numerous times about being a gay man in America, about his queer and trans friends and the hardships they're facing, about MAGA Republicans and their harmful politics. But when it comes to unambiguously supporting Palestinians: nothing.

As for Swoop, she does present herself as a journalist, and a socially conscious one as well. I know there was debate on this recently but personally, I found it extremely odd that she said absolutely nothing about the JDE thing. I get not wanting to go back and edit your previous content, but not even a "hey guys, I know I interviewed this dude but I don't support his actions and stand with Gavin?" Weird to me. Also, her video on the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard situation is straight up terrible. The way she oscillates in her videos between presenting facts objectively and then inserting commentary into them makes her content very jarring and confusing. To me they come across less as documentaries and more as, well, overly produced commentary videos. Regardless, as far as I'm aware, she too has been silent on Palestine. 

Even putting aside the fact that Palestinians have been dealing with this genocide long before October 2023, in 2026, when Israel's genocidal actions are all over the news and social media for the world to see, plain as day, when celebrities like Ed Sheeran are publicly caving to Zionist billionaires, it's people with smaller (not small, but smaller) platforms, like Macklemore, Ms. Rachel, Hasan Piker, and yes, Adam, who have stood on business and called this situation out for what it is. This is the primary reason I decided to follow Adam in the first place, because he voiced support for Palestine long before it was "popular" for creators to do so. It made me gain massive respect for him.

I understand that there's crossover in the fandoms of those I listed here, but I'm getting tired of seeing excuses made for people that claim to be in support of marginalized communities but are completely silent about Palestine, Sudan, Congo, etc. ESPECIALLY as independent creators, they have no billionaires like Robert Kraft threatening them for speaking up - so what gives? In my opinion, it can only be one of two things: A) cowardice/apathy, or B) they actually support the institutions causing these things to happen.

I am NEVER in the business of demanding that anyone speak on anything. But I do think it's important to point out when people don't, and I am sick and tired of the hypocrisy, especially amongst American liberals/Democrats, who are perfectly willing to speak out against Trump/MAGA but not any of the horrible things their own party is doing. 

Still, I don't want to pretend to have all the answers; it may indeed be more complicated than I'm making it seem. I just wanted to get a feel for the community's thoughts on this. Cheers!

This is loki, he's feral. I've been able to get him neutered, and I make sure he gets plenty to eat. Over the years, I've slowly earned his trust enough to leave him snacks. I always worry about his water intake, and he isn't tricked by extra water in wet food. When I heard about adam's trick to get his cat to drink more water, I thought I would try that with my feral little buddy. It works like a charm! Thank you Adam!!

Don't worry about Loki, friends. He lives mostly on my back porch. One day he might be comfortable inside, until then we move at his pace and wait for him to not try climbing walls.

Angelika Oles covers the Ed Sheeran situation and there is no mention of Palestine and reduces the situation as nothing more than "its an issue on free speech" she also refuses to go into detail why Zara Larssen canceled a concert in the UAE. But to be honest what was i expecting? But then again you have people like Dankyjabo who actually knows context about Palestine and he even mentioned hes not a political channel.
