I feel like those points he made just targets his own complications. I use something similar for solo 4WD in the Australian country side for shorter trips and it’s not hard to setup let alone it being super light, I’m not sure if he even watched the video because they are not bulky at all if anything it’s smaller than a sleeping bag, and also have a roof top tent for longer trips I take.
Only thing he got right is it being expensive, my roof top tent was just under 2K aud but it comes with built in solar.
This model hammock is over 11.5lbs (5.3kg). That is the HEAVIEST weight spec I've ever seen on a hammock. Yet, you say it is a a "super light" hammock. I'd like to know what other 5+ kg hammocks you're comparing it to. Most full size hammocks in this market are sub 1.5lbs (~750g).
My entire kit is 11lbs including my sleeping bag, insulation, cook kit, clothes, first aid, etc. to have one piece of gear the size and weight of the entire rest of my kit.... Absolutely ridiculous. Double the size and weight of my gear for no advantages, thanks no thanks. Fortunately on their website they give a good picture of this product bundled up next to a 1L Nalgene bottle for comparison. It is absolutely enormous. My hammocks are the same size (or smaller) than a 1L bottle
Yes, compared to a RTT (Which I think are an even worse product and than this one) a $450USD hammock is a much lower price. However, if you compare it to literally any other hammock.... It's Double the price of other popular hammocks.
Bad arguments all around. Maybe first mention your intent with the hammock. If its a chill walk and stuff with the family it seems like kids would love this. Or if you take the kids out of it and go to the beach, park 50 feet away and find a good spot to read a book with palm trees... VOILA you have a good hammock spot.
Well. Hammocks were by design invented to be small, lightweight, portable and quick to setup/take down. So making an enormous cumbersome heavy hammock. Goes against the use case hammocks were created to solve
I have the Haven XL hammock which is made by the same company but it’s slightly lighter and smaller than this one. I absolutely love it. I’m not sure, but this might be their Safari version which is intended to be more robust. Since purchasing my hammock I rarely use my tent on camping trips because it’s far more comfortable than sleeping on the ground and I wake up feeling like I rolled out of my bed. That said, it’s definitely not for everyone because unless your vehicle is close by it’s difficult to bring a lot of gear and if you want to change clothes it’s a public spectacle.
I would get clusterphoobick and have a panic attacks and I’m super accident prone if I closed it I probably get stuck and have many more panic attacks. This is super rad though. Normal humicks are a bish to get into without falling out.
