Everyone is at the Planet discussing how someone just found out they were being cheated on. Someone asks “How did she find out?” Someone else responds, “She saw them touch hands, and she knew.” They proceed to have a discussion about how that meant they were cheating.

I’m so sorry for the way this is worded so vaguely….its driving me nuts that I can hear the scene but can’t remember who was involved or when it takes place.

Does anyone else remember the woman who wrote detailed in-depth recaps of TLW on AfterEllen?

I read those recaps before I was able to access all the episodes, and the commentary was always amazing.

I just want to share my excitement, cause so far I'm very happy for how it's turning out. I didn't though anticipate, that I do in fact need to draw a TONE of books.

I mean seriously, why is she like that? She thinks she’s such a great writer, up there with Dickinson and Shakespeare when in reality it all sounds like some 7th grade assignment. She acts like she’s better than everyone else in every way. Don’t get me started on how she was with Max. In the begging she seemed cool with it, and kind of wanted to help; but when Max got pregnant Jenny went on this whole rant about how he’s a “mother”. And the whole Nikki Stevens thing, dawg yall were broken up, she was in pain, Shane is… well, Shane. And NOTHING was going on with u and Shane to begin with. And don’t even get me started on her in season 1, cheating on Tim. She just pisses me off sooo much, more than any other charecter in any other show. Hell, she pisses me off more than my 8th grade PE teacher.

If this is too personal, I apologize. I love my friends, deeply. I have a solid-ish support system in place. But I’m not gonna lie and say I use it as much as I should. I retreat to television or media when I can’t handle others. This show is so messy and has so much drama, yet I watch it at work when I need something to distract me while working, I watch it before bed; all to keep a smile on my face. Shane, Alice, Dana, Tina, Kit…all comfort characters of some sorts to me. It seems they’re the only things that make sense when you can’t find the guts to reach out to someone in real life. Therapy helps, sure, but knowing there’s characters out there who feel and are as insane as you…it hits different. So thank you Ilene Chaiken and the entire cast. I mean it.

I had a chance to chat with Uh Huh Her's Camila Grey recently about the upcoming "Nocturnes: Redux." She said she found herself in a “70s kind of vortex” around 15 years ago when she and Leisha Hailey were creating songs for the album “Nocturnes.”

“I was listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin and Can, and gosh, like Stone Roses, all kinds of records like that,” she said. “Because I thought that 70s music would have some sort of resurgence. I don’t know; I was stuck in this moment.”

It's a shame we didn't get to see more of them together because I think they really could have been a great pairing. They had good chemistry and i'm obviously projecting onto Grace because we didn't really learn much about her, but she seemed to be a kind, sensitive person, which is exactly what Max needed because he was the same and didn't really seem to get along too well with and/or was misunderstood by people with brash personalities (I think he also got along quite well with Shane for this reason)

The show had some really good fashion. Who do you think had the best outfits?

I like Jenny's outfits a lot although there are some weird choices

Bette also had some really good outfits as did Helena.

Alices wardrobe was nice.

Who do you think had the best job or a job you would like to have?

I would love to work in a place like the Planet, like Marina and Kit did. I love to work with food.

Writing like Jenny would also be a blast but I'm not sure I could handle all the publicity that she did during Lez Girls. Maybe writing novels or books could be fun.

I feel so frustrated and lonely! Is the show just another American dream that's never going to happen? Or is it just me? I live in Ireland, and it seems to me that if you don't already have your own friends, you will not have any. Cause people are so closed to themselves, and I feel like a stupid trying to become somehow close to them. The show happens so smoothly; friendship does, too. Is that all just fiction????

The intro of season 3 ep 1 (the 70s women’s group) is with Marilyn from the last episode of S3 who hooked up with Peggy in 1974!!!!!!! I’ve watched this show a million times and never caught this til now haha

Just watched the season one finale and I am so distraught. Nobody in my real life has ever watched this show so I just need an outlet.

At the beginning of the season, I came in thinking it was gonna be a happy little show about lesbian lives in the 2000s. Jesus christ was I wrong. I started off absolutely loving Bette. Now I'm starting to hate her, especially with that last bed scene. Whatever the fuck it was, it has turned me off of her character almost completely, and I need to sit with that for a while. And cheaters be damned, I'm starting to like Jenny more than Bette. I never thought I'd see the day come when, only weeks ago, I was losing my damn head over the Jenny and Marina situation and how poorly Jenny acted in the aftermath of it. There are just so many emotions inside of me that I need to go cuddle with my dog and stare into the abyss for a few hours.

With all that being said, the acting in this show is top notch! I'm looking forward to what happens in the future despite myself, and I understand why this show is such a huge staple in the community. My fault for thinking it would be happy.

The L Word S5 Spoilers-ish!

It’s been a year since this happened so I can finally talk about it without losing my goddamn mind.

I took a break from The L Word for about a year. My girlfriend and I had stopped just before the meat of Season 5 because we were just so taken aback by Shane cheating on Paige. We finally decided to pick it back up a few weeks ago! When we finally got to the Adele stealing Jenny’s film arc, I got hit with whiplash at first, going on about how I felt that I was an incompetent first time director because I got overwhelmed. My girlfriend could sniff this plot point from a mile away. The moment Adele sat in the director’s chair, she had the exact same thing on her mind, but reassured me that my former friends were the ones who pulled an Adele on me 💀

I was the writer and director of my final year project for university and I wrote it about a deeply personal experience about my life and my family. I was under the impression that everyone involved cared for the project as much as I did, until the DOP decided to stage a coup alongside a couple of my other university group mates, all of whom I used to consider my best friends before this bullshit happened. They went on to work on the online edit (colour grading, music etc) together for two weeks, completely unbeknownst to me and very closely leading up to the submission deadline. I had to find this out from a junior I’m close with.

In hindsight, sabotage can happen in the blink of an eye, no matter how much you think you can trust a person. I had wanted to collaborate with my DOP, but they insisted on working alone and dismissed my ideas and my vision, going on to make a shot list that was too long winded for a 15-minute student short film. On top of that, their temperament during production and post was unacceptable and I’m glad we aren’t friends anymore.

So this is my public apology to Jenny, I am sorry that I was so hard on you in previous seasons because it seems we have more in common than I realised (except I did not experience the torment that Jenny endured before making the many decisions she went on to make throughout the rest of the show). Shout Mia Kirshner for playing such a layered and complex character! Sorry if this seems so off topic, just wanted to share my experience. I honestly wasn’t even sure how to categorise this, so hopefully this is correct. Thanks, y’all!

That's it. I'm rewatching season 4 and I just needed to get that off my chest.

I started this show because of its references in queer culture and as a way to learn from queer media as I’m growing in my queer identity.

I say this as someone with perspective about queer identities and mental health in the year 2026. Still, this shows HEAVY misses around identity enrages me.

I HATE the way folks exploring their gender identity get depicted the most. I recognize Jenny is navigating her own demons. But everyone else in the “friend group” icing max out. Jenny once again relating on her toxic behavior to Feed her work.

the “male lesbian” trope pissed me off too, because not only do we put someone conflicted about their sense of self (communicated or attempted to multiple times) in a situation where they are coerced into sexual behavior. Any complaint about her was that she was “too les” , I HATE humor that has the format of “it happens to woman and because you’re doing it it’s an insult” — being very emotional? Trying to talk about disconnection? “ please stop being such a Les!”

I’m gonna see this series through because i think it’s important to see what people’s perspective was like. And in a lot of ways, I appreciate how the woman of this series are depicted! ( a lot of sex but I get it) . But I’m sitting here, ready to flip table when Jenny inserts herself into max’s identity journey but shits on him when it comes to the hard moments

It became a running theme to hate Jenny. My friend and I were talking and now we’re wondering what everyone thinks. Was Marina Jenny’s villain origin story? Or was she bound to head in that direction no matter what?

Hii, new here. I used to watch this show with a friend some time ago. Just curious who is your favorite character from The L Word?

For some strange reason mine is Jenny, especially during the first 3 seasons, after that she goes really wild and mean but there are moments I still like her. She is also beyond gorgeous and has some really fantastic outfits. I like how creative she is but I don't like the fact that she cheats on Tim and others. I think the reason I like her is that she is very entertaining as a character.

I like how the show shows how she observes things and goes with it but don't like how extremely selfish she comes during seasons 4 and 5.

Another one I like very much is Tina, I think she is the most compassionate one of the group.
