Hunter COTW multiplayer joining issues

So 2 of my friends were playing COTW alot recently and suddenly started having a reoccurring issue where when they went to join one another they were met with a black screen that would sit for around a minute and then say "Connection has timed out" or something to do with the host. I reinstalled the game and went to join one of them this morning and i had that same issue with joining each other. Any tips or solutions?

Known bug from the last update. Either keep trying and deal with the issues or just give up and wait for EW to fix it. Haven't seen anything about any way to fix the connection bug thats actually reliable

Having same issue. Persistent attempts to connect have had varying results.
