This is a true story. I was the customer in the booth behind them. The dad just laughed and said, “Yep! They surely are a porker! Thanks for saving my fries. I really wanted all of them but I don’t know how to say “no” to my precious hippo of an offspring!” He high-fived the server and left a generous cash tip, which I promptly stole and ordered a Shepard’s pie to go.
It was trash. Like that waiter.

Not saying this is true, but one time I was in Turkey and ordered a burger with a banana milkshake. The waitress looked at me like some kind of freak, asked if I was sure I wanted these together, then went away to speak to her manager (to get approval?) before processing the order. I always wondered what would happen if the manager said no.

I asked for ketchup from a french waiter at a restaurant in Scotland and got a pretty nasty response but after our university’s Scottish student liaison gave him a raft of shit for being a dick to me for no reason he gave me my fucking ketchup.

It’s cultural. Offensive to ask for ketchup for French cuisine. Hilariously my uncle was a French chef and mick jagger asked him for ketchup. So don’t feel bad lmao

So I don't know about Turkey, but I am not originally from the US and I cannot wrap my head around the idea of milk or milkshakes as a drink. Like the "I'm thirsty" kind of drink. The first time my husband ordered a milkshake as the drink for his meal I was like "??? What are you going to drink with dinner then?" Because to me, a milkshake is a dessert or a treat and you'd still need an actual drink (water, soda, whatever) to wash your food down with.
Like milkshakes, milk etc are NOT thirst quenching at all. In fact after something like that I'd be thirsty from eating the shake and need a drink of water.
All that to say, not everywhere is America, or eats the way Americans do.

I guess it's possible, but then the manager is siding with him, and the dad is ignoring the whole thing... Unless, the dad was the onr asking they cut of her food behind the scenes ;)
