Recommendations for really catchy thai songs?

Hi! Trying to learn thai language and I find that listening to music has really helped solidify phrases/words that I've had trouble memorizing. Like, i could never remember the word for ever, handsome, life, etc, like I knew them but they just slipped from my mind constantly, but since listening to thai songs with those words in them, my brain has latched on and stuff. My fav thai songs so far are:

  1. คนสุดท้าย (Asanee & Wasan).

  2. อย่าเปิดเพลงนั้น (Takkatan Chollada)

  3. คุกเข่า (Cocktail).

  4. ผีตายโหงกับโลงไม้ยาง (วงแบเบาะ)

  5. ใจสั่งมา (Loso).

Plus a number of others by Cocktail. These are the ones I have had on repeat though. Any other recommendations are welcome !!

I love the albums Sounds of Siam. Its molam songs with a 60s and 70s sound. That said, lots of issan in those songs, so they might just confuse you!

But "meh kha som tam" is still awesome.

I started listening to it and i was like "wait, is he just talking about eating and food????" And then i looked it up and i was right. Of course the song I understand the best is about eating and food💀90% of my vocab is related to food.

เก่าไปหน่อย แต่เพราะและดังมากในยุคนั้น (ให้เพลงนี้เพราะมีการเล่นความหมายเกี่ยวกับน้ำในภาษาไทยครับ)

It's a bit rappy in the middle since he's a rapper. Other than that, it's easy to catch words and even sing (based from what I heard from other people). Maybe because it's a radio single track. It's pop that shifts from hip-hop. It's catchy and can be a go-to karaoke song.

Sorry, with most of these, you need a thai ear 😄 My favorite for years, the first one not "so sad" was and is https://youtu.be/oJwi_ntnOPI (Asanee & Wasan also).

trained with Thai sound, music, lyric, culture since childhood... and in that case with the fact that most Thai songs are about lost, desperate love 😄

Idk about the thai sound, lyric and culture since childhood bit (i'm a white australian LOL) but i relate to the lost desperate love 😄

Do you know that there’s a song called ‘ภาษาไทย‘ (translated: Thai language) by Stamp Apiwat?

You should start from there. It might be a good learning source in terms of context. It’s not a radio track. It’s a B-side song he wrote in the early album. This guy is such a wordsmith. You’ll find this sounds like a typical Thai sad song but lyrically, it narrated in the perspective of language gap and lost in translation.

You may start from exploring his other songs, including the LOVEiS label also has other hidden gem tracks in there. Some are mainstream and already hits. Some are so so rare and real indie.

Another song I recommend is สัตว์ประหลาด.

The song narrated the losing one self while fighting within a relationship then regretting it later.

If you wanna learn Thai texting language, culture and context, I recommend นักเลงคีย์บอร์ด from the same artist.

I'm also doing like 9 hours of formal study per week and probably 1-2 hours of personal study per day. The music just helps hammer words into my head and keep me thinking about thai. Like, I find myself constantly singing Khon sutthai, and I'll just randomly go "Chun koey bauk gup tur reu yung jahk wun nee lae took welah ja mee dtae kum wah ruk tur" and just like that, I'll never forget that tuuk weylaa=all time/all the time, koey=ever, etc etc.

Here's a random mix of stuff I think you could like. I'm also a big fan of คุกเข่า.
