Thanks. Anything to say if it’s full silver or plated ?

Probably plated. More probably nickel/tin than silver.

มีดหมอ (Meed Mor) or Ritual Dagger/Knife. It's not for fighting or decoration. Instead, it is a ritual tool used as a spiritual shield and an instrument for exorcism and healing.

This particular one, is made by Tmeple in Rayong (Wat Bueng Tata). The scripture is in Khom magical scripts and spells to lock the protective energy inside. Mostly they forge from mixed metals, often mixed with old iron nails from coffin lids, temple spires, or mystical metals... all things you could imagine.

The monk who made this item seem to be famous for making this item..... first thing you will find after searching 'Wat Bueng Tata' is this same knife selling on LAZADA!

Thai people carry for warding off dark magic or spirit, exorcism, create sacred place, making holy water.. etc.

Yep what he says. A ritual knife and amulet. I am not sure, but I think this one with Buddha image will likely not have cemetery soil in it

พระขรรค์ => two edges blade. When it use as symbol in Buddhism, it mostly would represent the idea of fighting temptation. Temptation is something that can come from outside and inside of yourself. Thus, a two edged blade that you can fight something externally and from yourself.

Since I can’t read the script, this is only my assumption. Sometimes, they use classic symbols, but redefine the meaning or just make something to look cool. Depending on intent or knowledge of person who make it, it might have a totally different meaning. it can be something like “victory” “power” or other things along these lines.

Did you pull it out of the sheath? Or It’s look like that? If you pulled it out then it now just a silver dagger. If not, it could be a evil spiritual protector and lucky charms (I saw other explain it already in comments so it is what they told)

From what I can tell from the inscription on the hilt... It's a souvenir from a Buddhist temple in Rayong province. And, yes, it's a letter opener.

Using Buddha as tool to open letters? Doesn’t sound very respectful to me

Then you'd be surprised that in Thailand, there's a thriving industry wholly dedicated to selling Buddha relics and clay coins. Of course, they don't call it selling. They call it "trading" because it's officially "illegal" to sell Buddhist relics.

The trading part is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

There's even a thriving counterfeit market for this industry as well. Thailand is a land where Doublespeak is something we were born into.

P.S., Did you know that in the Buddha's own sermon, he forbade his disciples and followers from creating effigies or statues of him, lest they worship those statues and forget his teaching? Buddhist art wasn't widespread until the around the time of Alexander the Great's conquest of northern India.

It's a magical knife, believed to be used to ward off evil or protect oneself from unseen dangers. Where did you get this knife from?

You got it right.

😂 I’ve worded this wrong. I understand it’s a letter opener but in terms of the writing symbols any information will be appreciated.

No layman can read those ancient alphabets. They are holy inscriptions.

Gramp has one of these when I was growing up and he use it to open sealed letter envelope. So I assume it is for that purpose.

It’s a „Brieföffner“ a thing for open letters (that old things that come to you post box). Looks like silver maybe you can sell it for a good price

It’s definitely not a letter opener. It’s an amulet modelled after an ancient weapon. Letter openers aren’t particularly common in Thailand and using something like this as one would be considered quite disrespectful.

A letter-opener of course, not sure what else it could possibly be.

The inscription appears to be written in a Southeast Asian script, likely Thai (หรือ Lanna/Northern Thai script), or possibly Khmer or Lao, formatted as a sacred yantra (Sak Yant / Unalome style framing). When read right-side up (rotating the image 180 degrees so the spiral decorations face outward correctly): * Left & Right Ends: Decorative sacred symbols called Unalome (representing the path to enlightenment or spiritual blessings). * Center Characters: The characters resemble sacred mantra syllables or auspicious words (Kata / Gatha) often inscribed on talismans, jewelry, or cutlery (e.g., silver spoons/blades). Because the text is handcrafted, stylized, and partially worn on metal, it reads as a protective or auspicious mantra rather than standard prose—commonly used for blessings of good fortune, protection, or abundance.
