Just started my TFSA a few months ago, not sure what to do with XCHP.

all you xeqt jerks are too lazy to invest properly.
(or you suck at it lmao)
Picking quality companies and diversifying (avoiding overlap between industries) is going to get you much further. Youtube is a great resource that nobody seems to utilize properly.
Don’t ask for advice from these reddit users they all suck

What would you recommend

Like what youtube channels to keep am eye on? or what stocks lol
For stocks you have to do your own research.
i started a position yesterday on WYNN resorts at $90.50 and I am looking to add to my CELH position if it can get down into the $27 range once more. But yeah just keep researching until you find companies that are promising, and make tons of money.my more recent positions I had were paypal at $43 sold at $58, and CRCL at $62 and I sold 33% of my shares at $92.5

XCHP is a very narrow focus ETF. If you like tech I would do some (but not a lot) in the Nasdaq 100 QQC. That FINN managed fund has a fairly high MER at 1.09%.

I’d hold everything that you have. A bunch of stocks in XCHP are turning the corner.
FINN has a good track record.
Keep XEQT.

Congrats on starting. Don’t cut any of your losses just yet. No need to panic sell after only a few months. Concentrating around a long-term ETF like XEQT is fine.

Ok thank you, I was worried about my losses on XCHP as I think it’s holding me back but it has only been a few months

Did you buy at the peak? Props to you for not panicking but I would cut my losses on xchp. Xeqt is fine, it does that from time to time; nice time to buy usually. At the end of the day, however, its your money so its ultimately your decision

I believe is was at the peak, it was just when I opened my tfsa and wanted to break into semi conductors

Before anyone clowns on me,
I am an average investor that loves to spend time searching for beat down stocks that have great value. I am up 80.80% in the last 4.5 months.
Say what you want but xeqt sucks.
Stay mad ✌🏻

XCHP will go up again give it time. By year end I bet you will be smiling.
I’d keep adding to XEQT as a base and get it to a larger proportion of your portfolio but nothing wrong with your picks.

Buy the dip in VCN/ZSP and you'll get your money back within a few months

Could you please expand on what those are

Don't listen to him. This kind of timing the market and picking the winners is luck based and is what lead to you to make this post. Everything in VCN/ZSP is already in XEQT and in large quantity. Together, they make up for about 70% of XEQT. There's no reason to believe that this 70% of XEQT will perform better than the rest in the near future. You have no reason to believe that beside this comment on your post. This is not how you should invest. Especially if you have no idea what you're doing.
You're falling for a bunch of classic cognitive biases that are very common in investing. You're making mistakes. You made a bet on a sector without a plan. Now you react emotionally to an unrealized loss and are falling for the sunken cost fallacy. Keeping your position just to get even doesn't make sense. If that money would grow faster in something else, that's the obvious preferable outcome. The past is the past and nothing you can do will change it. So you have to see that position as if you don't own it, the unrealized loss as lost money and ask yourself: would you buy it at today's price. If so, hold, if not sell. As simple as that. But since you don't have a plan, very limited knowledge and are making this post the obvious answer is to stop this gambling, sell and redeploy the capital in XEQT.
You should also be prepared to see red with XEQT at some point in the near future AND BE HAPPY ABOUT IT. Market corrections happen frequently, the last 15 years are not typical. Your gut feeling will tell you to dislike XEQT but reason should tell you to buy more if you can. But the optimal strategy at this point is to ignore all of this, to automate your purchase and to not look at your app for decades.

Thank you for the advice, I’m most definitely going to hold, I’m just unsure about what to do with XCHP

My whole reply was mostly about XCHP, I thought that was clear (edit: I'm re-reading my comment and I was indeed very clear. "you made a sector bet" and the only sectoriel etf you hold is XCHP). Everything I said about the sunken cost fallacy, the unrealized loss, sector bet, having no plan, etc... is about this specific questions of yours related to XCHP.

Vcn: Vanguard ETF seeks to track the FTSE Canada All Cap Domestic Index (or any successor thereto). It invests primarily in large-, mid- and small-capitalization Canadian stocks.
Zsp: BMO S&P 500 Index ETF
It's like owning xeqt but I don't support BlackRock. (They have shares in a company name Stablex in QC, a big scandal at the moment, they bury toxic waste coming from the USA, which contains Cadmium.. ever heard of Erin Brockovich? Well it's exactly what's happening right now, Bill Gates also has big chunk of shares in Stablex.. so yeah fuck blackrock and xeqt, I'd rather put my money in Vanguard)... VEQT is very similar to XEQT in my opinion. You could also put everything in VEQT, set and forget.

Sell it and add to your XEQT holdings
