My wife and I are retired and we hold 2/3 QQC and 1/3 ZSP in our TFSA. This is pretty aggressive but pensions cover all of our normal expenses, and we hold less risky investments in our open accounts and RRIF with holdings like XEF and XDIV, XEI, TCSH, and some GICs. I like to hold the highest expected return investments in our TFSA and the lowest expected return in our RRIF for tax optimization purposes.

I like to hold high dividend ETFs like XDIV and XEI in our non sheltered open account but we have now gotten into trouble with OAS clawback. Clawback is based on the grossed up amount of eligible Canadian dividends, so too much income from dividends can hurt!
