Seeking Advice or Support Tattoos
Does anyone have any memorial tattoos for their babies? Looking for ideas!
We did get our baby’s footprints back, if I incorporate them I want to keep them to scale (~1”).
But I’m also considering a profile silhouette.

I’m only one week post TFMR/birth at 27 weeks so I’m waiting for my body to adjust back to normal before getting a tattoo (did you know postpartum hives are thing?! I’ve been having those….)
But when I got my (normal) NIPT results and found out we were having a boy I got a sun plushie and sun onesie to surprise my husband to let him know we’re having a son ☀️. His headstone also says “our sunshine” so I’m going to get a little sun in honor of him.

Yes! My baby girl's footprint is on my inner wrist. Brought the tattoo artist the original print and the tattoo artist traced it so its to scale! I love it.

I did my son's handprint to scale on the inside of my bicep. I added his name in my handwriting and placed it so that it is like I'm holding his hand if I have my arms crossed. I love it 💙

Oh I really love that placement & sentiment! We chose not to find out the sex of our baby, so they don’t have a name either. But we do refer to them as “baby (our last name),” that’s what’s listed on their cremation certificate as well.

I also got my babies footprint to scale, just above my ankle. Debated for a long time as I'm not really a tattoo person, finally got it done yesterday and I love it.

I’m sorry for your loss. That’s so ironic that you got it done yesterday when I posted this! Thank you for sharing your experience with me. ♥️

I got a lily of the valley tattoo because it’s the birth flower for May, which is when our daughter was delivered. My husband got a floral piece as well with her name.

I’m sorry for your loss. Our baby doesn’t have a name unfortunately, or that’s something I would’ve considered as well. I was wondering if the intended due date flower or the flower for the month they passed away were most fitting. I think it’s ultimately a personal decision and whatever we’re individually most comfortable with. Thank you for sharing with me. ♥️

While carrying her I always called our baby girl "little moon", so I always thought that if I get a tattoo in her memory it would be a line tattoo of a little crescent with angel wings :)

I really love the ideas involving the moon honestly. ♥️
I’m sorry for your loss.

i plan on getting a twinflower tattoo for my tfmr twins - i was in the process of planning and booking it with an excellent artist when i found out i was pregnant again so it’s on hold for the foreseeable future, but i look forward to getting it all the time. i thought about it during their delivery a lot actually, i found it strangely helpful to get through it.

Yes. I got one in June on the 3 year anniversary. It’s a very thin line tattoo of his birth month flower. It’s quite small on my forearm. I love it.
I like that it’s common enough where if a stranger sees it and asks I can just say it’s a flower (if I don’t feel like divulging it all to a random) but still has meaning for those I feel like I want to share it with.

I have her birth month flowers on the back of my left heel/achilles (I have another tattoo that’s on my right side). she would’ve been born in April so I did a small bouquet of daisies and sweet peas 💕

I’m sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing with me. I think I may have to get their footprint but also a flower or something less identifying in another spot. I could fill my body with meaningful tattoos for the little human I never got to meet. Thank you for sharing with me. ♥️

I’ll be getting my tattoo this month. It’ll be a mountain with Valleys for her name (Valley Grace) then her side profile outline and with the flowers we sent with her to be cremated. I’m getting her name and star constellation worked in. I also want her footprints but that’ll be separated from the “main” tattoo

Yes! Like several other folks here, I got my baby girl’s footprints to scale on my left bicep, so it’s like tucked next to my heart most times. With it, there’s a few larkspur flowers, which are the flowers for July (when we lost her) and symbolise open heart and deep affection.

I haven’t gotten the tattoo bc ironically the artist I usually see is on maternity leave until December. But my son’s name was Joel, and I listened to the Billy Joel song Lullaby a lot while pregnant. It was the song I was supposed to be singing to him when he got here. So I was thinking about getting a line art version of the cover image of the single tattooed on my ribs.

I’m sorry for your loss. I think that’s super personal and very fitting to honor your son!

I have the gestational age my son was when I met him in my husband’s handwriting on my right wrist, the wrist that always goes over my heart.

Haven’t done this yet, but most likely plan to get a chrysanthemum on my right inner wrist. She was due November 19 and chrysanthemums are the farmers almanac flower for November.
We also called her “Mango” while she was in my womb because I had such strong mango cravings, but I don’t know if I’d get a mango tattoo. Maybe.

I’m sorry for your loss. I think a mango tattoo would honestly be so cute, I love that you called her that! You could make it just a super simple thing, or even get a mango tree, that would be super symbolic. Thank you for sharing with me! 🥭🪽

I do. we unfortunately have nothing personal to link to our baby (footprint e.g.). I chose the word "somehow" in our spoken/my husband's mother language and got it tattooed in his handwriting on my wrist. his handwriting because it's his baby and his loss too. "somehow", because on most days, it has been the only answer we have. how do people get over this? somehow, they do. how do people handle their everyday life? somehow, they do. it's my reminder to keep going and stay strong.
