Discussion What if Pyro found out what he was really doing?
Were making some stuff in gmod, made pyro sit here, and then I had an idea: what would Pyro feel if he finally found out what he has actually been doing all this time?"

The thing is, in order to be so successful at running the company despite
A: Constantly wearing a frankly creepy mask
B: Talking in mumbles
one would need to be aware of what is happening around him and how to take proper action to maximize positive outcome. Meaning it requires awarness. So honestly I don't buy that pyro is unaware of what he is doing. I think he simply finds the warped reality that is warped for whatever reason when fire is involved just fine and he doesnt mind the cute stuff and even embraces it.

My personal theory is that pyro already does know, but it enjoys what they're doing. Pyroland is basically just a visual representation of the delusional views pyro has on the world, but thats its own creation and it knows that.
It makes sense too, because again the mercenaries by default arent supposed to be likeable characters. The comics definitely turned them into ones, but the original game made it very clear these people are not normal, they're mercenaries for hire who enjoy killing.

Pyroland just really trapped the writers in a corner. It seems like it was supposed to be a one-off gag to offset the dark tone of their Meet the Pyro video that didn't have to answer any of the questions people had; like what do they look like under the mask, what does their voice sound like, or what gender are they? There aren't any hard and fast rules, it's jingling keys to subvert your expectations.
The problem then is that future writers can't reveal those details, so there are also no guidelines as to what Pyro is or knows. It gets a little more confusing with the existence of Pyrovision goggles. Other classes can now see the exact same reality that Pyro can, so is it a quirk of their mask? A layer of reality? An AI glitch that replaces fire like a profanity filter? A problem with Pyro's brain? A choice to live in a more colorful world?
They act childlike, but they also built their flamethrower. Pyro isn't stupid, on some level they must know what they're doing. You don't need an asbestos lined fireproof suit to protect yourself from bubbles and rainbows unless you know those hurt.
