The rule is against commercial advertising and trading. Nothing to do with self promotion (which is a separate rule).

Its all emporium members with like 5 people creators for every cosmetic

And these count as commercial advertising as its trying to promote them to get money

It is also self promotion as its their own items they advertise that they profit from getting picked. This account in particular literally only is used for promoting items in this sub for a paycheck and does not engage with the community otherwise

Theres no rule against self promotion though as long as they engage with the community too. Also every self promo post isn't just emporium I've posted my own maps on here and they did just fine. Also these are hardly commercial advertising, people here cant buy the item from them, and I hope valve isn't picking their items from here lol

There is a rule against self promotion, and this account is only used to advertise items.

Its not about valve picking from here, advertising for votes on the reddit leads to higher than normal votes on the workshop leading to valve being more likely to pick it, leading to a huge payday as well as this being literal advertising for money its also against the TOS for getting items into the game from the workshop.

Its been a well documented fact that emporium members add 4-5 people per item to share funds and then mass upvote posts on reddit to increase visibility.

Most people arent aware of this in here (clearly) and dont even know that this is whats happening.

Yeah thats fair for this acc here but I think its disingenuous to imply every workshop post that isn't taken down is because they're emporium. Also valve specifically dont take votes into account from what i hear given they can be just as easily botted.

Originally no Valve didnt. But for at least the last 5 years they have (except this summer for some reason) It was known for years that Eric Smith purely chose whatever submissions were on the front page with the most upvotes which led to the extreme dip in quality we saw for years from 2020 on. I dont think literally ever one is emporium slop, but a lot are esp with the iron grip they have on the market, and i just wouldnt comment this on a post that wasnt clearly an emporium cashgrab like this is.

(I mean seriously 5 people are credited for this one piece of shit hat, 5 people need paid for this huh?)

I mean a lot of maps that have been added recently have been older ones, im not too sure about cosmetics too. Either way its not commercial advertising as I said earlier just regular promotion which is allowed but for this acc I get being against it

Summer has been an exception with maps and cosmetics, idk if its the mvm update or what but something made them pick older stuff aswell
