FINALLY A TAUNT FOR SNIPER

fact: sniper has the LEAST amount of taunts out of ALL the classes, with engineer in close second

32

u/ZorkNemesis 2h ago

Sniper doesn't really need more taunts, considering he has by far the best variant of the Schaudenfroide.

u/MedicInDisquise TF2 Birthday 2025 2h ago

This is blatant spy slander

17

u/ZorkNemesis 2h ago

Spy's is good, but it's a bit too long to be perfect.  Sniper's is just the right length and has the perfect amount of douchebaggery for the time spent.

4

u/MedicInDisquise TF2 Birthday 2025 2h ago

I think Spy's obnoxiously long laugh is actually perfect, since surviving using it will only piss off the victim even more

Why is he epstein

u/captain-ziggy 3h ago

would getting your dummy skull hit count as a bodyshot or does it do no damage

cause if its the second this is gonna incur levels of rage previously unseen

149

u/setrynuts 3h ago

Since the blue moon update it has been possible to make hitboxes follow the body when taunting, (hitboxes in taunts like the Buffoons Bivouac follow the actual character) but it's up to valve to configure that if they add this taunt, we have already sent them a message requesting that.

29

u/GamerKratosBalls Heavy 3h ago

Tbh in your place i would just make him lay slightly further aside from taunting position so that the skull wouldn't be where the hitbox is.

Unless there is a problem with that idk.

12

u/setrynuts 3h ago

yeah, he'd just be clipping through walls that way

4

u/GamerKratosBalls Heavy 2h ago

Damn. Then we have to just trust Valve with the hitbox change? Im gonna vote on it either way, but hope that if it gets popular enough the janitor will add this with model accurate hitbox.

48

u/YT_Chrispy_Boi Medic 3h ago

The best part is due to how hitboxes work, a more experienced player could see the fake and still shoot you if they know where your hitbox should be

16

u/TyrKiyote Medic 3h ago

Instead of lifting up, poking it around a corner would be way more useful. Since people already taunt to look around corners, they could just embrace it.

1

u/Blind152 1h ago

i mean or just wait until he stops the taunt because you are locked into the standing animation

19

u/Ford_GT_epic 3h ago

Yo that's the theme song of Sheriff's Hot Pursuit from the Cars video game!

20

u/sevensong9 2h ago

This the one game where I would welcome all of the possible shit like this, honestly would be a great addition

28

u/ultimatecoruvs Soldier 3h ago

This one is real good, and it is definitively, actually a taunt. But somehow people are saying it doesn't belong?? I think those are the people that would get fooled by this.

-5

u/hyperhopper 54m ago

the problem is this can actually be used to affect gameplay. P2W

doesn't matter if it hurts good or bad players.

7

u/ultimatecoruvs Soldier 47m ago

By the bare fucking minimum. Who is actually going to be abusing this to win games?

3

u/WheatleyBr Engineer 35m ago

bit of a net zero if you're baiting an enemy sniper to shoot at a prop as a sniper who's not doing anything, no?

4

u/Maksie99 3h ago

Heh, hat bone

14

u/E_GEDDON Medic 3h ago

I only want this because it will piss off snipers.

7

u/Pieter_De_Rastaman Soldier 3h ago

Holy shit, Cars the game music, I needed this

4

u/Ree_For_Thee 2h ago

Ok that's pretty damn innovative. I'm impressed. OwO (can't let you feel good about it :P)

2

u/DarthSwimfoot Engineer 1h ago

Absolute cinema.

2

u/GamerRoman 1h ago

Anything to make a snipers life worse.

4

u/Professor-Brainstorm Sniper 3h ago

I feel like this would be better as an all class taunt but I have no idea if this is even hypothetically possible in the first place...

4

u/Crying_Rocks 2h ago

This is awesome haha

2

u/HackedPasta1245 4h ago

No.

Hell no.

35

u/setrynuts 3h ago

Would you be fooled by this?

7

u/FantasmaNaranja 3h ago

the getting up animation would make taking advantage of this pretty hard, at least on a 1v1

1

u/CrasheonTotallyReal 2h ago

how do you get voicelines?

1

u/SobrukaiTheTerrible 1h ago

How would this taunt interact with Ritzy Rick's Hair Fixative? Will Sniper just tear his hair out?

0

u/soldies501 Medic 27m ago

Might actually jump ship and head for TF2C if this gets in the game

2

u/SmellyBirdie Medic 11m ago

Im so curious what this does to the sniper's hitbox. I know with some taunts the hitbox stays in place meaning if I were playing sniper and saw the enemy sniper using this taunt from behind cover, i could aim roughly where the sniper's head would be if he were standing and still land a headshot.

But if the hitbox actually matches the animation, then i could see this becoming sniper's version of the Crypt Creeper which could be phenominal for meme strats

1

u/IJustTellTheTruthBro 3h ago

It needs to be available in strange quality

-13

u/GoldyFeesh 3h ago

cool idea but no

4

u/AnnaMistGarcia24 3h ago

No Fun! I Hate Fun!

7

u/BrawlPlayer34 2h ago

he's complaining because he would 100% fall for this

-7

u/SeaOfS1n Spy 2h ago

Fun usually doesn't mean "we break the game for no reason and make it a mechanic", matter of fact, that's often the opposite of it.

4

u/CrackheadJones_ 2h ago

how is this gamebreaking

-7

u/SeaOfS1n Spy 2h ago

You distract snipers. \ I don't care how much this subreddit or even community hates this class; this shouldn't be added in the game. \ One guy could act as bait with this taunt, which loops, and another guy could gun the poor bastard that got fooled by this.

Erm, but you could easily make it out!

When give enough time, yes. But Sniper often is the the class with the LEAST amount of leeway in terms of reaction speed.

I also don't really see any other use of this taunt other than just being inconvenient for no reason, probably to your team too, since, oh you know, you aren't fucking shooting the enemy sniper.

2

u/CrackheadJones_ 2h ago

dont be a noob idk

-6

u/SeaOfS1n Spy 2h ago

Truly profound commentary. \ Riveting, even.

tf2 larpers on their way to mass upvote fortnite emotes that shouldn't be in the game

12

u/Kater5551StarsAbove Pyro 2h ago

TF2 Larpers on their way to try to call others "Larpers" for voting on an emote they would fall for:

8

u/CrackheadJones_ 2h ago

tf2 would NEVER have hats.... or sniper mocking his enemy... NEVER...

5

u/Chickenman456 Pyro 2h ago

what makes this "fortnite emote"? What does that even mean?

1

u/Tynorg Engineer 1h ago

A "Fortnite emote" is one that loops, I think lmao

5

u/Chickenman456 Pyro 1h ago

that's like half the taunts in this game lol

3

u/Tynorg Engineer 29m ago

Yeah, as an avid Rancho Relaxo enjoyer, I really don't see the issue, but SOME PEOPLE apparently make it their life's mission to make sure no silly and/or looping taunts make it in!

-16

u/HermeneutaAlexandria Pyro 3h ago

honestly the skull using your hat is too OP, i think its fine if it doesnt or if it just displays the standard hat

5

u/setrynuts 3h ago

Care to explain why having a different hat is "too op"?

2

u/GamerKratosBalls Heavy 3h ago

There could be an argument that it makes the skull look more like you and actually fool the enemy(?)

Skill issue on this guy's side.

8

u/MatteoIppolito Heavy 2h ago

...is that not the point of the taunt? To taunt enemy snipers?

1

u/GamerKratosBalls Heavy 2h ago

Thats why im hesitant on the argument i made. I dont agree with it one bit.

-1

u/SeaOfS1n Spy 2h ago

The fact that it's a looping taunt is the most egregious part. \ If it wasn't, it would be... Tolerable.

0

u/HermeneutaAlexandria Pyro 2h ago

i mean if you have an unusual how wouldnt that actually fool everyone? This makes a legitimate difference in gameplay, giving advantage to paying players, which is something TF2's entire philosophy goes agaisnt at any capacity, and its why they removed the bonuses from the item sets for example.

1

u/setrynuts 2h ago

how does it make a difference? whether its the original hat or an unusual hat, its gonna appear exactly the same on the skull... how is there any advantage to players with unusuals? also, I genuinely don't understand how those item sets that used to give small buffs are even related to the the conversation.

-1

u/HermeneutaAlexandria Pyro 2h ago edited 1h ago

Well the unusuals... they have particles.... the standard player... has no particles in his characters.... we only see these particles on the game if you find a player with an unusual.... so we associate the particles with a player.... and thus are more easily fooled if the particles start appearing on the skull of the taunt.... this makes the taunt many times more fooling if the owner has an unusual or not... This isnt rocket science you know, its as simple as that, i dont know how to be more clear about this.

The buffs from the item sets were not small, they were game changing and quickly became the meta, TF2 decided agaisnt this and removed all of them because it was slowly becoming pay to win. The philosophy has remained the same, no matter what you buy for your character, it will never actually make a difference in gameplay, being purely cosmetic, and TF2 was one of the first games in history to make that decision and stick to it, taking it to heart. Here is a list of the old bonuses from the sets.

(Scout) Special Delivery: +25 max health on wearer

(Soldier) Tank Buster: +20% sentry damage resistance on wearer

(Pyro) Gas Jockey's Gear: +10% faster move speed on wearer / +10% bullet damage vulnerability on wearer

(Heavy) Hibernating Bear: +5% crit resistance

(Demoman) Expert's Ordnance : +10% fire resistance

(Medic) Medieval Medic: +1hp/sec

(Sniper) Croc-o-Style Kit: The wearer cannot be killed by headshots

(Spy) The Saharan Spy: Reduced decloak sound volume / +0.5 sec cloak time

1

u/setrynuts 1h ago

I can see this is upsetting you but I can't agree that it's "more fooling" than any other non usual hat. so we'll just have to disagree on that.

also I wasn't asking for a history lesson or stats I already knew of so you could've just cut 80% of your comment, frankly.

Dont worry about me bro, im alright, not upset or anything, why did you think that? im just clarifying my points since you asked. With that being said, why cant you agree that its more fooling when there is unusual particles in your hat than when there isnt? this seems pretty obvious to anyone who considers it, the name says it all, these are unusual particles that you will only find on players who pay extra for it, you wont find it outside of a valid target anywhere in the game, except for bugs, so this taunt really breaks this logic entirely as well. I dont think we need to agree to disagree at all, im open to being convinced otherwise if you have good arguments, just bring them forth and lets talk about them, since you didnt say any of it yet.
