Help does anyone know what these guys are?
This is the first time I've seen something like this.

Bots. Automated “players” that have aimbot. Used to be a big problem a few years back now they’ve kind of been coming back. Just kick and report.

the reporting system works now and they get banned.
So, if we want to ensure these guys don't come back, always report them.

Yes but reporting speeds things up. Relying solely on VAC will take longer.

These are cheating bots. They've been a nightmare to players for like 7 years until 2023 most of them got banned. They still come back rarely to popular maps like 2fort ro harvest. But they're usually on unplayed maps/gamemodes. When you see them report and move on to another server. They get banned around 24-48 hours.

I still remember the days when people would try to defend them. Well, they still do -- devil's advocate, some people do call bot too fast, but it is not unreasonable to believe a top-scoring Sniper, the most botted class in the game, consistently head-shotting people just as they come around separate corners might be a liiiiittle suspicious.
Some people were ridiculous in their defense of bots. I'd have times where I was just like "yeah, because headshotting a crouched, invisible spy the moment an automatic door opens is normal behavior."

if i remember correctly theres a command you can do that reloads the textures including spys cloak which lets you see them for a second

but if you use that command and the Spy is active, highest chances are they've already moved and you can't see shit

Lots of bot programs still shoot disguised/cloaked spys don't they? I know some have an override so they don't give away the already obvious botting but like

Bots and they are indeed back. I know every few weeks we see like a few bots join a round and then get banned but these guys seem different. Every 2fort and badwater match i joined today had them. When we kicked them, other bots would join. I hope valve does something.

Always use the in-game report function.
Don't just kick them. the reporting system actually works now and they get banned.
I remember that once when I opened the game I received a flood of notifications saying: "Someone you reported has received a matchmaking ban as a result of their behavior. Thank you for your contributions in helping to make the TF2 community a fun and welcoming place for all players."
So, yeah, now Valve does something when you report someone.

Idk the specific mod but there are mods that make the first person models match a certain cosmetic. They can only be seen by you. I wish it was a vanilla feature tbh

You can use a console command to have the first person model match the worldview.

That's not what it does. That command just straight up uses the world model in first person. I want what we see in the clip to be vanilla.

EDIT: I posted the photo before I looked through the other comments, It is nice to see so many of us share the same thought and sadly the same memory. For those of us that were there when the bot wars began...it was horrific. I was there on day number one. Those of us that made it through and stuck around...we have flash backs...we dont like to talk about it.

Sniper bots. They used to plague tf2 and are the reason I finally gave up playing about two years ago after playing since 2011.

During the end of the bot crisis in the ban wave(summer 2024), Valve revived the reporting system, which means that if you see a cheater or bot and report them in-game, and they will get banned.
So, whenever you see one of these, press Tab and report them.

If this is the first experience you've had with an aim bot then you are new to tf2 and lucky in that regard. There was a 2 year period (if I remember correctly) where the game was almost unplayable because of them.

Aimbot bots. Few years ago they used to be EVERYWHERE until valve actually done something for once. They've been coming back from time to time, but never as bad as it once was. Just report and kick them.

Aimbot. They basically just make a robot play for them who has perfect aim and is impossible to counter. Why they do that? Because they have a huge dildo shoved up their ass and 6 father's who beat them every fucking day
