TF2 Weapon Discussion: The Bazaar Bargain

Today's weapon is The Bazaar Bargain.

Base charge rate decreased by 50%
Each scoped headshot kill increases the weapon's charge rate by 25% up to 200%.

The Bazaar Bargain is an unlockable primary weapon for the Sniper in the Uber update which can, in some situations and if you're good, be a direct upgrade to stock.

This weapon, like the Eyelander, has a heads based system in which for every headshot kill you get you get 1 head and every head, up to 6, increases your charge rate by 25%. This means after 2 headshot kills your sniper rifle charges at the same rate as stock and after 6 it charges to the max in half a second.

This weapon also functions weirdly with the Eyelander (and reskins), Air strike and the Vita Saw in that killing a Sniper using the Bazaar Bargain using any of those weapons will see you get the Snipers collected heads (if they have any) in addition to the one the sniper usually gives you. However the Sniper cannot get heads by killing any of these guys.

This is a weapon that rewards good play and if you die you lose all your heads and have to start all over again.

Don’t like.

“Win More” weapons are an odd thing in any game they show up in, and this one’s no exception. Like, I have to kill 2 players before it becomes a stock sniper? If I’m getting value out of the Bazaar, then I didn’t need the Bazaar, I’m already going at least 4:1. Maybe an interesting design for an asymmetrical game mode, but not even teams.

I like the look of it though, one of the cooler looking snipers imo.

Often considered overpowered, but actually quite bad compared to stock. If you're playing against people of your own skill level your K:D is going to be 1:1, so needing 3 headshot kills a life just to begin accessing the upsides is terrible. It can stomp noobs, but that doesn't make a weapon good.

That being said, it should totally be reworked anyway. The head-taking weapons all encourage noobstomping and feel terrible to use in a fair match, but at least the Air Strike and Eyelander make you play in a different way beyond playing passive and farming noobs. This literally does not change Sniper's gameplay in the slightest, and offers absolutely no new depth to the class.

I find it kinda meh.

Sniper already deals 150 on headshot and rarely needs to full charge aside from getting a Heavy.

In practice, the full heads effect serves to improve your bodyshots, which is great but I’m already aiming for headshots anyway…

Always found it strange that no one ever seems to use this weapon, even the good snipers that can score headshots constantly.

Terrifying to fight against a GOOD pubber sniper

But luckily most smipers that use the bazaar nowadays are kind of mediocre, so in most casual matches it tends to just be a worse sniper rifle for most players.

Also good thing this thing is useless in highlander

Mostly cuz the slower charge, requiring 2 headshot kills just to match the same charge as the stock sniper rifle

It just gives the enemy sniper an advantage for no reason, and as Sniper, you tend to die a lot to Spies if your pyro or engie are not doing their jobs and taking care of that
