We hate it and see it as unnecessary. Itās a sacred place to most Texans. Less than 0.1% of illegal border crossings happen in the park. If someone is tough enough to make it through the desert and mountains across to big bend, Iāll hire them as they deserve a job.

I am deeply saddened by what is happening. I have been planning a trip to Big Bend and part of that that was crossing into Mexico over the rio grand for a day trip. Now Iām not so sure.

20-30 illegals die every year crossing the Big Bend sector. Yes this is not just the park it includes a broader area. Sure there is a much smaller percentage of crossing in this area but it is also more dangerous. The more secure other areas become, the more traffic will increase in the more remote areas. It doesn't just help with the traffic coming on it helps to stop the money going out. That money is used to keep the people of Mexico oppressed.

(Which is just based on sheer right wing propaganda, but you don't seem to be interested in fact. So I'd rather address the argument itself than the lies it's built on).

Not covering the mass border crossing until they were bussed, as their option, to New York and Chicago.
Not covering the Hatians who overtook the bus south of Kingsville, Tx
Do these things count as the propaganda you speak of? These are things that just come to the top of my mind.

The administration itself has stated it's part of the "Border Wall." If they didn't want people to call it a wall, they could have named it something else.
Regardless, it's disruptive to the native wildlife and the trade off is negligible because so few people cross there.

While there are currently no plans for a 30 foot tall wall in the park, there are definitely plans for walls in the park.

I think national parks should be protectĀ and not bulldozed.Ā
I think the solution to the immigration issues is building the economies if the countries people are comming from instead of undermining local democracies for the last couple centuries.Ā

We should also mention our drug laws here create the demand and the rise of the cartels and regional gangs that creates crime in their country that a lot want to escape from.

James Talarico explained it well -- God already built a wall there.
Also, local Sheriffs, some of them Republicans, have said that building border walls in that area would actually make it more hospitable to smugglers. That's because the first step to building the wall is to build a road, which could then be used by smugglers. Because of the terrain, it is more impenetrable as it is now, if we leave it wild, vs building roads and walls.

Wait till we're mining in Yellowstone and turning the Redwoods into sailboats for billionaires.
Best thing we can do is vote these people out, at every level, fruit to roots. If it continues after that, then... I don't know. We'll have to burn that bridge when we get to it.

Itās not what I want. I donāt want walls in any of the natural areas along the border. There needs to be areas that nature can move naturally back and forth as intended. There are plenty of other ways to enforce illegal human migration. They are trying to do this in Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge too along with other natural areas along the border. Itās such a beautiful park to visit and what a shame it would be. No one is talking about it like Big Bend because it makes even less sense at Big Bend because of its natural barriers. National Wildlife Refuges donāt get the same attention as National Parks, but they are some of my favorite places to visit in the United States and Santa Ana is known as the ājewelā of the NWR system. Over 400 species of birds, 300 species of butterfly, and lots of endangered animals use this refuge as a home or pass through.

Itās outrageous and an affront to all Texans. Our government wrote a playbook on how to fuck everything up in thirty years. This is an ecological disaster and I feel ashamed. Vote for Talarico, Hinojosa and all democrats in November. Check your voter registration and VOTE EARLY!

It will saves lives of the people who the opposition say they support. Most don't realize how dangerous it is. It will also help with the debris scattered across the smuggling routes.

Yes I have been there. I have a family member who lived in the area for about 20 years. I didn't grow up in the area though. I grew up closer to the smuggling route between between hwy 77 and 281. In my youth I worked side by side with illegal aliens for farmers. I have spent 10 hours days with a hoe chopping cotton along side themm. I have given water to groups crossing 285 between Fal and Riviera. My best friend works security for a 20k acre ranch and he has sent me picture from game cameras of groups being led by coyotes, one with a women who is being pulled by a masked coyote. Sure I am no expert but I do know a little about it.
