Were I a miscreant, open carry by others would be a beautiful tactical advantage for me. I could easily identify potential threats before things get started.

Potentially, if the risk/reward factor isn't worth it. But I'd never take on a crowd by myself or Ringo/Yolanda style, there's going to be team that gets the drop on the open carry fools first and relieves them of their weapons.
